I'm seriously disappointed in this book. The book production value is nice but the material is vapid content even mildly interested fans of the show would know about. When the title is called Inside HBO's Game of Thrones I was expecting extensive, or at least new, behind the scenes/making of coverage. Interviews with the cast and producers. Extras about the sets, props, locations, etc. that would otherwise not be covered. Instead I get basic character profiles, still photos, anemic interviews, and close to little coverage of the special effects and production efforts. Entire art departments with work that could've filled the entire book were reduced to a page or two. I seriously can't stress how empty in content this book feels. This book feels more like a promotional booklet you'd get for free at a convention or something expanded into a book than something that gives fans an insight into the making of the series.

If you have or haven't gotten the bluray volume of the series, it covers everything in this book (except for some season 2 material which will likely be covered in the season 2 bluray volume set), and provides more. More behind the scenes material. More on the locations, the digital effects, the wardrobe, the actor's thoughts, the producers experience, the author's experience, the dothraki language, the making of the cultures, the backstory of the families and kingdom. And you'll have the series itself.

If you want to see what a well done version of what these books should be like look at any of the Art of Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Pixar movies, etc.

Excellent -- very informative keeping track of who's who, where's where, what's what, in the HBO TV series. Frankly, it's a must-have. In April, I started watching the TV show from the beginning -- am about to watch Episode 110. In a matter of two weeks -- with the help of this book -- I'm up to speed, getting ready to start Year 2.

This book is not, by any means, the only book I'm reading regarding Game of Thrones. This book appears to be the only "picture" book devoted to the HBO show. I think it is the same book that is part of the insanely-expensive Inside HBO's Game of Thrones: The Collector's Edition.

LATER

I have an issue with the cover: it is made of vinyl-over-padding/batting. I hate it. The cover shows every little ding. If you actually drop the book, expect a MAJOR crumple, or MAJOR gash, or both -- which you cannot repair. If you want to keep this book in pristine condition, either don't use it at all, or put a high-school book-cover over it (which still won't prevent damage in dropping the book). Or get the book USED with dings already there. Or duct-tape the cover. The publisher made a terrible choice for cover.

Amazing. I read the entire book in one evening, and it's a lengthy books filled with interesting information. I simply couldn't put it down. It has family trees on each of the primary- and most of the secondary- families. If you haven't read the original Game of Thrones books, this is a great guide to help fill in all those blanks. Amazing pictures and all kinds of interesting tid-bits and comments from the actors and directors.

This beautiful book is a useful and handy visual guide to the Game Of Thrones. The emphasis in this book is on the visual with enough text and charts to refresh the readers memory of just who this particular character is related too. There is an extensive amount of background information mostly consisting of quotes from cast and the HBO production crew.

The information is, as you would expect by the publication date, current with Season 1 information.

Recently I was in a brick and mortar chain bookstore and they had this book on display selling at $40. How sad, I love
visiting bookstores but how can they compete with Amazon where I purchased this book for $21 shipped free.

This handsome, large book - 9 by 11 inches - is a visual treat, eye candy, if you will.

Five stars for the beauty of the book itself and the photos.

While I understand people being upset about the collectors edition they're putting out for this book early next month ($90 here on Amazon) and the exclusion of Direwolves, that for me doesn't detract from the greatness of this book. The hardcover is clean and intricate, the page layout is beautiful and it's a good sized book. The amount of depth and details are great, the pictures pop with color and detail and it's a great book to add to my collection. For the price, the content and the look, it's a great book for any fan of Game Of Thrones to get and I highly recommend it to any fan of the series. I got this with the A Feast Of Ice And Fire Cookbook and it's a great companion to have with that book as well.

This is one of the most beautiful books I've ever purchased. The cover is simply gorgeous, the photos inside are colorful and eye-popping, and it's got a lot of cool things like lineage charts for each of the main familes, character profiles, and much more. I'm a big fan of behind-the-scenes books for my favorite shows and movies, and this is one of my favorites, both in appearance and content. Highly recommended.
