PTSD is a broad topic- complex trauma covers a subtype of PTSD which is of interest to me as I have evaluated many adolescents who present with these issues. This is certainly a very comprehensive treatment by authors who are leaders in this field of research. This is a highly recommended book; you will find the most recent research findings in well-written, easy-to comprehend chapters.

I used this book to gain a deeper understanding of childhood and Adolescents trauma. I worked on a project in Iraq. Getting a copy of this book came at a very good time. As I worked on my project, I found myself reading sections of this book to help me gain a better understanding of this complex topic. I do have to warn readers, this is not a book for beginners, if you are a college student you should at-least have taken classes at the 300 level within psychology or you will not gain the benefits of this book. The first chapter of the book truly gets your attention, it set the pace for the rest of the book; Relational Trauma, Brain Development, and Dissociation. Great book, a must read for those of us who work with children and Adolescents. Julian and Christine if you read this review please contact me, I would like to get your thoughts on dealing with Children with Traumatic issues within a ongoing combat/high conflict zone. Your book was extremely helpful.
