I bought this book for my baby when he was 6 months old and he still shows the same excitement for it now at 12 months! In the beginning, I taught him to touch and feel the shapes and textures. Now he does it on his own and loves to turn the pages to see what's next. He especially loves the firefighter and "sticky cherries!" He enjoys the simple and colorful quality of the book. Since he's still too young and impatient for a story, this book is great. A great starter book for any baby and encourages conversation between the parent and child.

The book has great colors but the textures are practically the same for the fish, the snake & the star fish. The sand castles are sandpapery & the cherry pies are sticky which are fun. Otherwise, Touch & Feel Farm is a much better book out of the two.

My 10 month old loves these touch and feel books. I bought this because I thought he may like it. There was not enough things to touch though. There were some pages with nothing to touch. The things they had did not keep her attention either. They had one page that is suppose to feel sticky, but it didn't. Another page is suppose to feel like a leathery, but again it really didnt have that feel to it. The pictures kept her attention though. So it's an avearge book to me.

I wish I would have realized that touch-and-feel elements are only on every other page. It's kind of a disappointment when my son (19 months) only wants to flip to the pages that have something to touch -- which means that it's not exactly conducive to learning the order of numbers.

Our 1 year old daughter has this book and she has learned precisly where to "scratch" on the page to feel it. She enjoyed this book for about 2 months before getting tired of it (that's not bad right?!). My only gripe is she has chewed on the book corners and its fraying quite a bit to the point we had to take it away from her when we started seeing paper in her diaper... hence my 4-stars. She enjoys it though obviously and that is really what it's all about.

I really thought that the textures would be great based on the "preview" that was provided, but when I got the book, not every page has a texture to it. Some of the pages they could have done something really great with, and they actually don't have a texture at all. An example of this would be the page with "3 ballerinas" could have had one of them with tulle for the skirt (appropriate to the theme of both the books purpose and a ballerina", but it had no form of texture. Overall I was disappointed with this purchase.

This is a cute concept but the number of textured patches doesn't match the number of items and not all of the numbers have something to feel. So the text says "Six bumpy starfish" but only one is textured which is confusing. Most of the pages are like that. Also, there is only texture every other page so about half of the numbered items have no texture at all. There are lots of books in the series that are better -- Touch & Feel Kittens is especially good in my opinion.

I liked this book because it didn't contain your typical fluffy, soft, or sandpaper items. It had a few different ways of giving babies different tactile items to touch. Fun addition to our book collection.
