I bought this for my 4,5 year old. Each page is dedicated to one topic. The topics covered by this workbook are simple enough for young children to grasp (which animals are fish, which animals are reptiles, mammals, etc.). At the end of the workbook there are answers and more guide for parents. Golden stars are a hit; really motivate my son. The only thing I don't really like is the glossy pages. Overall, nice book for science beginners.

I want to encourage an interest in science and teach the building blocks of empirical and critical thinking to my four year old. This book is a great tool! Very well designed and engaging for kids 3 to 6. Also easy to follow and use as a teaching aid. Well worth the price if you're willing to sit down and read it/do the activities with your child.

My three year old loves this book. We spend time together working through the pages. It is at just the right level for her. It's her favorite pre-k workbook by far. Even though it's small, it's lasted a very long time. Highly recommend.

This is a really nice science workbook for the introduction of science. I bought it for my daughter for her 4th birthday and we are about 1/3 of the way through it already. She loves it, although the work is easy for her at this point. I still think this will be a good primer for more science books to come. In addition to simple 1 page lessons there are also easy, but fun, science experiments that the book guides you through. The reward stars are a great addition also. The pages are glossy though and not easy to write on with anything but a ball point pen, but that is really the only complaint I have and it's not that big of a deal for us as my daughter is so tired of coloring all the pictures in her workbooks anyways.

My 4 year old son has really learned from the DK workbooks and he is motivated to complete each page with the included gold star stickers that go atop each completed page.
The pre-k science book begins by having the child circle the "living" things with the choices being pictures of: elephant, flowering plant, tricycle, dolphin, bird, and teddy bear.
My son can't read but he can do the work when I read the instructions. It goes on to teach that mammals have hair and then they circle the mammal, birds have feathers and then circle the animals with feathers, then fish, reptiles, and amphibians.
I am a big fan of these. We also are working in the pre-k language and geography and soon to be in the math. He has learned what an island and volcano are and its amazing to see his eyes light up when he learns something new.
I highly recommend the pre-k DK workbooks to give your child a head start.

I only wish the pictures were in color, but for some of the pages it is nice that they aren't in color so that I can give my daughter additional instructions that slow her down a little (example: "color all of the vegetables green", when the instructions just say to "circle"). I do really like the book though! The pages are really smooth and thick (crayola twistable colored pencils work the best on it).

I am a biology major, so naturally I wanted my son to have a science learning book. This one is perfect for his age, and he really enjoys this activity book. I can tell he's learning from it as well. He asks about the animals we see out and about. If they are mammals, birds, reptiles, etc. Then he explains why the animal is a bird, mammal, reptile, etc. We will probably be purchasing another one of this brand's workbooks soon.
