Claire Clark has done it again. Her first book has been one of my favorite cookbooks of all time, All her recipes work beautifully, I should know! I own a few hundred of them!!
Made her beautiful Swiss roll cake and it was gone in 5 minutes in a party.
I love how there all a lot of pictures of the finished cakes too so you can get a lot of decorating ideas.
If you don't own her first book you should get it, You won't regret it!

I like the idea of the book, but there are a few things not quite right about this. When I read "80 Cakes From Around the World", I expected this to feature cakes from different parts of the world. However, the author used a lot of creative licensing in this.

For example: Black Russian Cake is listed as originating from Russia. But then, she goes on to say the cake is an American invention normally made with yellow box cake mix and chocolate pudding mix. And why did she list this under Russia? Because the cake contains vodka. That's as Russian as it gets. The reason this book gets 3 stars and not lower is she actually made the cake from scratch and not a mix.

Other things that threw me off - the Black Forest Gateau is nothing like you've ever seen. The Accra Banana and Peanut Cake is rather far from the real thing and the ingredient list gave a hint: in certain parts of the world - especially tropical locations, heavy cream is quite rare.

Once again, I like the idea behind it, but some recipes are just not a true representation. I get if you think of it as "inspired-by" countries.

I wanted this for so long and when it arrived it was a bit of a disappointment. I think it is the layout and the glossy pages. Sort looked very 1980's to me and cookbooks have come a long way since then. Will keep though.

my girlfriend forced me to buy this book as her christmas gift instead of the north face sweater i wanted to buy her because she is a baker in training this book is great! but i realize she does not like it because it is a unconventional cake book with a lot of bright colored, weird shaped cakes she is looking for traditional cake book ,this book is more for someone on a baking reality show not her, thats why i told her to research before she buys, then she returned it. so if you want to make holloween or novelty cakes like; a basketball or a building shaped cake! this is the book for you
