I don't give five star reviews... those are for Shakespeare, King, or Tolstoy. I give this my highest normal book review rating of 4-stars. The writing was solid. No embarrassing punctuation or spelling. The author had well developed characters, imagery, and appropriate use of flashbacks. The story was not overly technical or gear-centric; this is a more of a philosophy of survival story. Also, it deals with desperation, subterfuge, and betrayal by both the good and bad guys (at some points in the series).

Leaving the Trees starts off very detailed and taught me a few things I didn't know. For some unknown reason though the novel jumps way ahead and moves back and forth with no real main characters or description provided where the reader has questions. Overall it read like the outline for a full novel or a short story you would find on an internet forum. While an interesting premise the overall read was unsatisfying.

This is one of those series where it strings you along, it is not a full book. I just feel ripped off after reading one of these. I was so into it at the beginning,and then it changes geers to a total different scenario. Save your money.

The storyline is good; compelling even, considering the mounting cyber attacks the U. S. is experiencing right now. (Sony and other corporations). However the writing is simplistic. Conversation is stilted. This was a decent read, though, since I read it for free with the Kindle Unlimited account
