I've read Heather Graham off an on for several years. When I last read a few of her books, they were from the Krewe of Hunters series. So, while still dealing in the supernatural, this foray into vampires was still a little unexpected. Not a turn off though. It seems that everywhere we look, authors are dabbling with vampires, shapeshifters, etc.

I kept thinking I wanted a little more detail, a little more explanation throughout the story. Not just about the characters but about exactly HOW the vampires became vampires and took different shapes. Graham did keep me interested with the gradual tale of Ragnor and Nari. The switch back to the past off and on throughout the book did the trick to keep me paying attention.

I almost gave the book 3 stars because it didn't answer so many questions for me. Still, I'm on Amazon right now to see if I can find the book right before or after this one - so I'm evidently interested enough to read more (grin). AND if I'm seeking out another, surely it deserves 4 stars.

Just a note: It's not a 'cerebral' experience at all, but it is great for 'brain candy' which is why many of us read fiction to begin with, right?

I love Heather's books.I just recently realized that she uses another name(Shannon Drake)to write her novels.This books was mysterious & intriguing all the way through.Sultry & sexy characters & a fun atmosphere with the Venetian Carnevale.Look forward to reading the other Alliance Vampire Novels.Some are written under her other name(Shannon Drake).

I rated it five stars because it was all I expected it to be, fast moving and a really good plot.
There was romance plus action and you can loose yourself in the story.
I would recommend to people who like romance and suspense leaning toward the supernatural.

As always Heather Graham does her research excellently . You get a real feel of Venice and the parties that are forever present. It is a great story of evil, good and love. It is a book for people who like the supernatural, mostly vampires in this one. You will thoroughly enjoy the book and wish it did not end.. Enjoy!

This was the sorriest. Piece of drivel. Ive ever read.I don't know who all of these four stars are but ar cant have read the same book.I started listening. To the Cd on a road trip because it wad the only interesting Cd on the rack.Isaac curious to see if it accidentally. Got any better in the book.not even close.this was written for a teenie. Bopper they would not even like this the characters. Were cardboard and the plot was less than the receipe. On a cereal. Box. Do yourself. A tabor buy a chair latte and have a better taste in your mouth afterword. Blaghhh

Obviously Heather Graham writing (sex, mayhem, etc). Good read except for one major flaw; the editing was absolutely horrendous (punctuation missing on almost every page, bad syntax throughout, miss spelled words also). These flaws took away some of the reading pleasure.
