Very informative with so much great detail. Makes me very thankful I was i the Army 1971 73 and not 1917.
Too bad the US was to ill prepared for the commitment to furnish soldiers for the war. Very costly!

A fascinating study into World War I from the perspective of its effect in the life of one small rural community, on one family and tragically in the life of one young man and a private in the U.S. Army. A fascinating and interesting view into the War.

Full disclosure--Julius Holthaus is my 1st cousin-twice removed (my grandfather's 1st cousin). Mr. Holthaus was part of the family's oral history.
