This was a very interesting book. When you hear a lot of some of the issues today facing College and Professional football, they are very similar to those faced when football was in its infancy in this country. Interesting detail about President Teddy Roosevelt and Walter Camp.

Good, but not great. Although I liked the book, I was actually a little disappointed and yes I gave it 4 stars. Could have been 3.5....
This book gave some nice history on the start of college football, but I found the book spent way too much time on O'Dea and his life. I love the comparisons to todays game which is great, however it seems like there was so much more going on that was never touched on or barely mentioned....But it is always great to see a best seller about the best sport in the world....

I enjoyed the history lesson of the true beginnings of football.
It was interesting to find how monies once again effected yet another sport beginning.

Full of interesting history about the origin of football, but at times written more like a history book than non-fiction. Couldn't finish because it kept putting me to sleep though I enjoyed parts.

Although this book centers on University of Wisconsin it has much to say about the beginning of the game.
