Natalia lives a quiet and unsuspecting life. When a wounded Russian Politician is thrust under her care, Natalia’s life is suddenly under threat. Ex-FBI agent, Sloan Dreyer, comes to her rescue and now both are on the run.

Not knowing who to trust, Natalia finds herself under the protection of the very dark and frustrating Sloan. As the mystery unfolds, she learns who she really is and that maybe there’s more to Sloan than she originally thought.

Appearances can be deceiving is a classic, yet poignant theme in any story. Although the book is riddled with action sequences, I found that the main message was centered on the brooding and angry ex-FBI agent. As the story unfolds, the reader learns, along with Natalia, that there's more to Sloan Dreyer.

The pace unfolds the story naturally, making it a believable and smooth read. This story begins from the first page. There are twists and turns throughout the plot. The author is fantastic at thickening the storyline, making the reader anticipate what is going to happen next. Everyone is a suspect.

The book is action packed and full of intrigue and I was completely drawn in. When an author can suspend disbelief and you can immerse yourself in that written world, is when you believe you are there. This is one of this book’s best qualities.

Yet, in the middle of this madness, there’s the story of Sloan and Natalia. The author paced this subplot well; its conclusion coinciding with the overall plotline. This created a wonderful, and sometimes frustrating, tension.

Excellent characters. I didn't know how I felt about Sloan myself and I could relate to Natalia’s initial feelings of irritation toward him. The author possesses the ability to create brilliantly believable characters. They may be maddening at times, but this only makes them more real and vivid.

Action, Romance, mystery...this book has it all.

Target for Terror is definitely an action book and L.A. Iding has done an excellent job of keeping her reader, me, connected to the book and wanting to read on until the finish line; last page.
I won't go into the storyline because I don't wish to mess it up for the next reader, but I am going to tell you that this book is worth buying and reading. It is thrilling, exciting, and written well. I recommend it.

Target for Terror is has all of the elements that make for a good book: mystery, action, suspense, and romance all bundled together for one sexy, engaging read. Iding is definitely off to a good start with her new series centered on the work of Sloan and Jordan who have partnered together to create Security Specialists, Inc. The history behind the startup of the company and the backstories of these two heroes are smoothly incorporated throughout the book without readers having too much exposition dumped on them all at once in the beginning of the story.

Watching the burgeoning relationship between Sloan and Natalia grow over the course of the book is what I enjoyed the most during my read. Natalia is distrustful of Sloan, as she should be; her life is in danger, and she’s all alone, unsure of who can be trusted. Sloan tries to keep her safe, but for the first half of the book, Natalia fights him every step of the way. Early on, she’s antagonistic, sarcastic, and feisty…which surprisingly is a turn-on for Sloan, and he’s a sucker for her Russian accent when she insults him:

“Her husky tone sent fissions of heat flickering through his veins. There was something genetically wrong with him if he could be attracted to a woman who’d called him a pig.”

I found a lot of the conversational sparring between them to be quite amusing, and the touch of wry humor Iding sprinkles throughout the book gives readers a much needed respite from the otherwise serious and violent plot.

Target for Terror is not a light, easy read…at least it wasn’t for me. The plot is complex and involves many characters who may or may not be involved in a terrorist plot against the U.S, and in this book, the Cold War is still very much in effect as the tension between Russia and the U.S.

This book grabbed me right from the beginning and didn't let go! I would have read it in one sitting if I'd had the time. The pacing was great and there were several surprises along the way. I loved Natalia and Sloan's relationship and I can't wait to read the next book in this series!

I choose this rating do to the content. I wanted a good mystery to read and with a love story. I thought it would be a kindness love story with a little mystery. It really ended up being a mystery with a little love in it. I am so glad that the main characters had to get use to each other and not jump into bed fight away. The books that are suppose to be mystery books now a days are so hurry get in bed with little or hardly any mystery in them. This book is not like that. It makes me want to read the rest of the series.
