This book provides an excellent key to identify any turtle you
may come across and provides consise and acurate natural
history information. There are lots of good pictures too.
I wish there were books like this for more taxa!

A great book if you are seriously interested in turtles and a bit sick of the kiddie stuff. Natural history is what reptile care MUST be based on, you can believe me I'm a herpetologist, and that is what this book is all about. Good species keys, hard to find elsewhere, Ernst knows what he's talking about.

I bought this book for my Mom because she absolutely loves turtles. This book is extremely technical with it's information about turtles and tortoises, I actually think it's a little too technical. This books isn't like an easy reading book that you curl up on the couch with, it's more of text book or dictionary about the many different types of turtles and their scientific names and origin. Regardless of how technical this book is, it's still a great book and makes a great gift for turtle lovers! I would definitely recommend this to others.
