Great Find! I first was searching for books on Charles de Foucauld (that's the next purchase!) but got interested in Carlo Carretto, one of his followers and a great contemplative and man of action as well. He reminds me a little of my favorite Fr. Richard Rohr, who started the Center for Action and Contemplation in New Mexico some years ago. He contends, as does Carlo, that you can't have contemplation without action as well. Some call this man a "simple peasant," but if he is "simple," it's with the brilliant luminosity of Pope John 23rd.
