I love this book. Each page shows a way that animals take care of their babies and all are easy to connect to humans (we read this book to our 2YO daughter to prepare her for the new baby coming soon). One half of the book is about mother animals who take care of their babies. Then you flip it over and there's another story about father animals taking care of babies. Each story ends with a page about humans - parent putting child to bed - which makes this a great bedtime book. The illustrations are realistic, and you will definitely learn a few new things about animal families. A great one to own!

I first fell in love with this book when a friend gave it to my daughter. My daughter, now 7, still loves the book. We have given it to every friend or relative who has a new baby. Parents, both mama and papa, will love reading the snuggly words and educational animal facts while snuggling with baby.

Using a flip-me-over format, Aston has created a fascinating mix of factual information and comforting bedtime story. Told first from the perspective of mama and then half-way through from the papa's point of view, this book explores the roles each play in rearing wild animals. A great addition to any primary library collection, this book will serve a dual purpose: facts about animal behavior and a lyrical tale for story time.
