Really enjoyed this book. It was much more than just a typical self-help book because Lori walks her talk. She's been through every vile thing a woman can have happen to her--several rapes, a lifetime of eating disorders, and even a suicide attempt--yet her life and her book gives testimony to her triumph over the long dark night of the soul.

A Victim No More is at heart a feel good book chock full of golden nuggets about how Lori gradually released old patterns that no longer served her and replaced them with microscopic honesty about each and every choice she makes. Her hard fought victory over victimhood is an inspiring story and shows us the way to consistently make the right choices to bring forth all the joy, the happiness and the love which is our birthright.

I had high hopes for this Book based on the first free pages on "suprise me". Surprised I was to see that was the best of it, much like a great movie trailer that leads you to a disappoint movie. It takes more than a few quotes to make a book. This book tells you the author's life story, I read half of it and still didn't see much if any tools on "how to stop being a victim". I did sympathize with her struggles but after reading the same story over and over again I was fed up. It is not well written, it doesn't teach much of anything and it is not interesting.
I was Hoping for guidance and enlightenment and I found none.
Stick with books written by therapists and stay away from this one. I wouldn't read it even if free.

In A Victim No More, Lori Rekowski shares an authentic and often hard look at how her own attitudes and behaviors contributed to creating much of the craziness she experienced in life. The upside to all of this is that then she too took responsibility for creating something powerful and positive out of that trauma and abuse. Yes, we all fall into a victim-mode at times in life, but Lori's story gives us hope as well as tools to use in creating something different. We each hold the power to make our lives into something meaningful and impactful. Lori's story is a beautiful example of how one amazing woman did just that.

In order to write a good book, the best advice is to write about what you know; what your life experience has taught you. A Victim No More is an authentic account of the author's brutal victimization and her valient and courageous assent out of that state. She shares with the reader her personal story, with insights, and practical exercises so that we can learn from her and thereby advance our own lives in a non-victim role.

It really helps sometimes to know that someone has had it as bad as I have (or worst) and has made it through. That empowers me to know that no matter what hand I've been dealt, I can find the tools to get out of it. Bravo Lori, this story inspires us all to be as courageous and giving as you are.

The wisdom in "A Victim No More" is empowering for people that live in constant fear of others, and often feel taken advantage of. It helped me to become "conscious" of my own behaviour, and what I was unconsciously attracting in relationships. A reminder for me that real love cannot exist in the presence of fear. It does seem like many people may not even recognize that they are giving their power away, or that they are in a victim mindset, this book will help bring self-awareness. Knowledge is power. In childhood I had no choice in being a victim, however in adulthood I often forgot that I did have a choice in many situations, I had a choice to allow or not allow others to destroy my happiness, or to take advantage of me. It helps open our eyes to the ways in which we may unconsciously attract abusers, because of the insecurity created from traumatic experiences, abusers sense fear, and prey on this. I am also no longer a people pleaser. Lori is brilliant and authentic, her message needs to be heard far and wide, to teach people how to take their power back. Thanks to the wisdom in this book, I now know that if life itself were a book, I am the author, I write the story of my life. We make our own life experiences by how we chose to handle what happens to us.

This book has help me identify my own fears. The author tell her story in a way that I was able to see myself in the victim conciseness role. The main goal for me after knowing what had happened to me was to forgive myself and heal so I could help my kids who still depend on me. Spirituality and self awareness are key to my recovery and she explains the steps to achieve it very well.
