What a cookbook! I have had this for six months, and I still rave when it comes up in conversation... Firstly, the visuals are flawless. Nearly each recipe comes with a full-color, masterfully staged photograph that makes your mouth water. The recipes are accessible, meaning that the ingredients required are generally already in your pantry or spice cabinet. Additionally, I found them to be easy to make and well-instructed.
Since these recipes were submitted by regular cooks like us, they are tried-and-trued on regular family palates. So far, all the recipes I've tried have been successful.
The book also includes a great section explaining the Jewish laws pertaining to food preparation and cooking - a great and practical resource for the kosher cook.
And best of all, your purchase helps support Jewish education!
This would make a terrific birthday or Chanuka gift for the Jewish cook in your life. Or else just buy it for yourself!

This cookbook is a wonderful cookbook to have on hand whenever you're looking for something practical to make. Most of the recipes consist of foods that most households have on hand at (almost) all times which allows you to just open the book and start cooking.

Overall - I highly recommend this cookbook to anyone looking for delicious and practical recipes (which don't take hours or tons of steps to prepare).

As a warning - there are a few mistakes here and there (this is a first printing...), so you do need to be careful (e.g. blackened salmon calls for 1 TABLESPOON of cayenne pepper for 4 pieces of salmon...that is almost unbearably spicy). But, with a little bit of common sense (and trusting your instinct) you should be able to avoid any mishaps those typos may cause.

Got this book during the summer as a gift. Really nice book. Beautiful graphics, nice photos. One of the better kosher cookbooks out there.

This and Chic Made Simple by Esther Deutsch are currently my favorite Kosher cookbooks.

Great recipes, great photos, lots of information about all aspects of food and cooking. My personal view is that if you are experienced or new to cooking you will learn a lot with this book.
The book has a boggling amount of information about keeping Kosher and Halachic guidelines, not for eveyrone but well done.
There is a review of cookware. There is a section showing cuts of beef with various names and uses of each. A review of wines (not just red, sweet wine), spices & herbs, fruit & veg buying guide (a 'field spot on watermelons- I always thought that meant it wasn't ripe). And much, much more.

I saw this cookbook at someones house and immediately thought the recipes looked easy and delicious too. I ordered it and was happy when it arrived. I looked for something to make for the weekend and could only find one that I was in the mood for! Perhaps I am just too lazy for cookbooks in my old age!
