I am also going to write a negative comment about this book. As a note, I am a huge fan on the VA & Bloodlines series. Maybe because of this I am so... let's say demanding.
The presentation is far more better than the content. I was kinda disappointed after I received this book on my Kindle. Actually, to be honest, I was, and in the same time wasn't, expecting "more".

Two thirds of the book is nothing more than a school-grade resume with quotations from the 6 books of the series, while the last third does NOT have "everything readers want and need to go even deeper into the world of Vampire Academy". There is nothing more in the book that wasn't originally written in the VA series or that any reader could deduce by him/her self (assuming an IQ high enough to actually learn to read:P).

Bottom line, I wouldn't recommend it. If you want to re-live the Vampire Academy "magic", just read the books again!:)

I love this series and I wanted to love this book. I was hoping for a book like the Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide; Where Meyer gave us in-depth info on each character's backstory, small details and insights for fans, plus an interview with Stephanie Meyer. But none of that is here. Its only a short recap of each book. Including a note from the author about each book. The rest is basic VA info we already know, divided into categories and about 20 questions answered by Mead. The book is well written, but not much new on the characters we know and love.

I pre-ordered this after reading the VA series in about 10 days, so you could say I was addicted to the series and its characters. I thought there was going to be some deeper insight into the characters from the series, but was disappointed to see this was a Cliff Notes version of the entire VA series with some Q & A thrown in from the author. It was almost like a cut & paste of the VA series put into one summary book. This was a huge let down as well a waste of reading time and money. I wish I had seen an actual copy instead of pre-ordering with my Kindle because it would have changed my mind on purchasing this book. I hope the next Bloodlines book is not a disappointment like this one.

If you are a fan of the Vampire Academy series, you probably think you know everything there is to know about them. Even if you think you do, you still need to give the Ultimate Guide a chance because it will definitely surprise you with things you didn't know.

I loved how it was broken down by each book in the series. We get a small section from author Richelle Mead before each summary and she shares her thoughts on the writing process of each story. We get to hear about her struggles, feelings, and character creation that we don't get to read about in the original stories. Then each book is broken down into sections as well explaining certain quotes, story arcs and more. It even features a pop quiz at the close of each one. I loved taking the quiz after each section because it really made you think about what you have read. Great for readers in testing their reading comprehension.

In the middle of the book, we are also treated to color photos of the illustrated novel, photos of the author at signings, and web site links to further our experience into the Vampire Academy world. The final part of the guide is a glossary. It explains certain terms that readers will come across in the world that the author created for us.

If you are a fan of this author and/or the series, then this is a book you have to have in your collection. It completes the collection and series perfectly and is perfect for gifts as well. A great addition to my bookshelf!

Being an "ultimate" fan of Vampire Academy, I love having this book around to read and quiz my self on. With summaries of each book, biographies on the characters, and color inserts from the movie that comes out in eight days, it's perfect for any and all VAddicts!

I have been a fan of Vampire and Zombie movies and books for many years. I loved the "Interview with a Vampire" and Dracula series. However, I guess I should have checked out this series (The Vampire Academy) before purchasing this book and the new graphic novel of The Vampire Academy.

Apparently, the audience in this series seems to be young teen age girls. The dialogue is obviously aimed at females who are expert at talking for hours full of boring and meaningless gossip rather than anything really important. The popularity of the young, good-looking vampires and werewolves in the Twilight series clearly influenced these writers (Michelle Rowen and Richelle Mead). I have no complaint about focusing on a specific individual market, but I do wish book covers and advertising would state clearly when the book is for young teenage girls. I cannot imagine teenage boys reading this book, but than I could be mistaken.

There are 11 chapters in this 305 page book, as it explains in detail all about the Vampire Academy and its main and minor characters. In this respect, fans of this series will want to have this book because it tells in great detail the entire world of The Vampire Academy. I did find the glossary in Chapter 11 very helpful when I read the Vampire Academy Graphic novel.

In conclusion, if you are a fan of The Vampire Academy, you will want to read and study this book. Personally, I have no interest in this "New Wave" of silly young and teenage level vampire stories trend presently popular in movies and television shows.
