Editorial Reviews

Product Description

John Bunyan was a simple maker and mender of pots and pans who received very little education. In spite of that, he penned the most successful allegory ever written. Embark on a perilous journey with Christian, the lead character, from the City of Destruction to the luminous safe haven of the Celestial City. The journey will encourage you to "set your hope fully on the grace to be given you" amidst the obstacles of life.

From AudioFile

Nadia May's reading of this classic is too rushed for contemplative listening, and sometimes even for comprehension. While her high-pitched voice is distinctive, her quick pace prevents effective delivery of dialogue and description. As the story of a journey, an allegory for redemption, a more measured pace with moments of intensity would be better suited for conveying the struggle of progress. A final quarrel with this recording is that Bunyan's "apology," which traditionally precedes the story, is relegated to the final disc, making it seem an afterthought in the production. 3.0 out of 5 stars Dissapointing, July 11, 2008
I got this for free from another site, so I can't complain about the price. I have to say that this was a pretty disappointing narration of The Pilgrim's Progress. This is a book that I think would have been best read by a male voice, such as Simon Vance or Nick Cordileone (who've both done work for this same publisher).

I would recommend the version done by Max McLean.
