Kathi Macias is writing a series of books that bring to light some amazing but possibly little known facts about some pioneering women. This is her third book in the "Quilt" series.

Jolissa has had a very rough life up until now. Due to tragedy at a young age, she has grown up with an Uncle that ridiculous all that she does. For the last 14 years, she has felt that no one can love her due to her speech problems. Her dream is to help children through social work. While trying to work, please her uncle and go to school, she has had little time for anything else. The pull is strong but she is not sure where it comes from or if she will be able to achieve her dreams.

Enter a QUILT, an adoptive Grandmother, and a courageous woman who lived years ago. The quilt depicts the life of Fanny Crosby. She is not only known for her hundreds of gospel songs, but an active public speaker and a mission worker. Despite her own handicap, Fanny had the courage to go out into this world and do the work her God called her to do. Will Jolissa have that same courage despite her impediment? Will she come to know her Father above and realize that she is loved by not only Him but someone she least expected?

I love the way that Ms. Macias does her research in order to not only write this Quilt series but all of her books. I have learned many things from her books. Her story and inclusion of facts about these famous and courageous woman in this series is eye opening. I cannot wait for the next story!!

This is another in the Quilts of Love Series. Kathi Macias weaves a skillful tale, and I love this one about an older woman who befriends a young one.

Jolissa is a young woman, an orphan, living with a verbally abusive parapalegic uncle. His constant criticism of her and her severe stutter has her convinced she can do nothing right. Her employer at the laundry where she works regretfully informs her he must cut her hours in half--now her tio will be mad that she can't give him more to meet the bills.

On an impulse, she enters a little church. There she meets an older woman, Eva Pedrosa, who tells stories about a quilt she has. In the stories about Fanny Crosby the young woman learns about another young woman who overcomes what appear to be insurmountable obstacles. Soon Jolissa is calling her new friend Abuela (Spanish for grandmother). With the encouragement Jolissa receives from her new abuela, will she begin to discover a little confidence in herself and in her God?

God is big enough to meet us anywhere! This book was God kissed!
There is not another author who writes with such passion and the Lord shines on every page as Kathi Macias. Kathi really loves the Lord she serves and it shows in her writing.
Forgiveness, Love, and a huge heart and love for the Lord, that is what you will find on every page of this amazing book.
I loved learning about Fanny Crosby with Jolissa. Eva is the grandma we all wish we had. These characters become like family.
Kathi, has really done her research for this book. I really enjoyed reading it and the neat thing was I learned a lot while reading this book.
If you are looking for a book to get away from the world we live in this is your book.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Singing Quilt by Kathi Macias. It's easy to read and I couldn't put it down. Kathi masterfully weaves a story of our main character, Jolissa, who is going through life with the problems she feels alone in dealing with. She meets and becomes friends with a kind, godly woman who begins to share bits and pieces of the life of Fanny Crosby through the patches of the singing quilt. The stories of Jolissa, and Fanny Crosby, who wrote thousands of hymns and poems, are artfully blended together as they each learn to depend on God. I loved this book!

Kathi's books make you really care for the characters. The quilt series can be read in any order as they are each a stand-alone book. Once you read one, you will want to read all three! I also look forward to reading other books by Kathi Macias.

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading Kathi's books from the Quilt Series. The Singing Quilt is equally as good as the other two that I have read. In this book, I learned so much about the life of Fanny Crosby whose bio was told through a quilt. Kathi does such a wonderful job of writing stories and bringing her characters to life. In this book we meet Jolissa who was orphaned at seven and was taken in by her uncle to raise instead of having to be put in the Foster Care System. Through the constant verbal abuse and put-downs hurled at her by her uncle over the years, she begins to think that foster care might have been a more viable option.

Jolissa's life is dominated by fear, but providentially she meets an older lady named Eva and the two of them develop a granddaughter and grandmother relationship. Kathi expertly intertwines their lives and Eva through her relationship with God and her constant prayers becomes the catalyst that helps Jolissa realize her real self-worth as she is gradually led to developing a personal relationship with God also. This is a very good book and I highly recommend it!
