By Judy M. Eskelson on January 26, 2008
Format: Hardcover
"Season of Ice" captures the absolute essence of the total change a grievous loss brings to each particular person's persepective. Genesis, is both introspective and dynamic; she feels and she acts. She exits on two planes after the disappearance of her father.

This book is relevant to persons of any age who are faced wtih change, loss, and survival. Then, the need to move beyond survival. The interior landscape of Genesis is vital and authentic; the exterior setting of this book is real and highlights Genesis' authenticity.

So well written. The author not only gives a voice to the young woman, but makes all that she goes through with the loss of her father full of layers, believable, insightful, an amazing read. Glad I discovered this author

"Season of Ice" is a stunning novel that examines in minute detail the emotional turmoil a young girl named Genesis experiences at the disappearance of her beloved father. Part coming-of-age, part mystery, and thoroughly captivating, the novel crackles with vivid images and emotionally weighty subjects. At the same time the story is an exploration of her external world, the small, rural Maine town in which Genesis lives. Echoing some of the same powerful themes of "The Lovely Bones," Les Becquets' novel is every bit as emotionally wrenching and in prose that sparkles.
