Care Bears to stitch for the little one in your family or on your list of friends. This book suggests outline stitching of the items and then painting in with watercolors which makes the piece unwashable. When I read this, the first thing I thought was why would I spend all the time to create this only to have it unwashable? There are wonderful fabric paints out there, either in brush, tube or pen form, that would allow these designs to be washable and, therefore, very useable.

The book itself has approximately 30 wonderful designs such as the Care Bears in several different positions, cupcakes, flowers, moon and stars, hearts, rainbows, butterflies and numbers. Using these items, you could create a wonderful nursery set for a newborn or a special blanket for a toddler. As these items need to be washed, I would suggest using the fabric paints rather than watercolors. BUT if you wanted to make a picture that would just hang on a wall, then the watercolors wouldn't be a problem.

The chart is in color and is large enough even for eyes that aren't 20/20. Some stitching tips are given as well as how to read the charts and how to stitch. Of course, there is a page on the "stitch /N Paint Technique that this book promotes. Also, instead of painting, the whole design can be created in cross stitch only - no painting needed.
