If you are wanting to master off camera flash techniques then this is 1 book you should consider for the following reasons.
1. I like that the author (Barry) had assignments for you in this book as he is teaching along the way. This would all of us if we take the time to do them and make us better photographers.
2. He went over a very good cross section of speedlights, (small strobes and powerful ones)
3. Barry also said something in the book that I have seldom read but it is so true.
Essentially every shot does not have to be technically perfect but you need to get the emotion.
4.I found the information about what equipment to carry and sometimes to much just gets in the way and less is better so you can concentrate on the events.
5. Camera bag recommendations and the WHY? behind them I found that helpful as well, it has caused me to rethink how and why I carry what I do.
6. There is a wealth of information in the book and food for thought. This book would be a good gift for a friend or someone struggling with lighting.

I'm very impressed with this book. I've reads quite a few books on using speedlights and this one hits a nice balance between covering the basics and more advanced concepts. Easy to read, easy to understand. Very happy.
