I bought this book hoping it would give me a broader list of scholarship applications, but it did not help me one bit.

First, the book is poorly organized in alphabetical order. This isn't very helpful because a scholarship for hispanic americans only could be grouped with scholarships specifically for engineering majors. Furthermore, you don't know whether the listed scholarships apply to you or not. It took me a hours to get through a few pages, just because I had to look up information for each specific one.

Second, I found several scholarships in the book that were outdated and no longer available, or I simply couldn't find enough information about. The book is essentially a laundry list of every scholarship they could find.

I would avoid this book if possible.

This is yet another fairly useless scholarship book.

A key issue is that it fails to note whether or not a scholarship eligibility is based on financial need. Many students who do not have "need" according to the financial aid system are in fact, desperately seeking scholarships to help pay the high cost of college.

Furthermore, many key criteria aren't listed for scholarships -- in several cases I checked, the scholarships are limited to use at a small number of colleges, but that information was not in the description in the book -- you have to go on-line, key in a code, and then click the link to the scholarship website to see that.

Finally, unless you enjoy reading dictionaries from front to back, you'll find the organization of this book unhelpful. This is a book that would be far better as a Kindle book that was searchable -- as it is, you have to examine all the details on hundreds of pages to try and find scholarships that might apply.

Save your money.

The organization is awful, yes they give you all of the hints and tips you'll need that will hopefully score you a scholarship and they even have a bunch of them listed too!

But they did the worst possible way, they organized it alphabetically. What could possibly be the problem with that? You ask. Let me explain.

This book is split into sections for the scholarships by State Specific/Major Specific/etc. and that's great and all unless you don't actually want to spend hours leafing page by page just to find a something you're actually looking for.

They're all over the place! State specific section is probably the worst, there are fifty states in the US of A and that's not a number you'd appreciate in size unless you're trying to find a New York buried under Californias and Oklahomas, swimming through a sea of Floridas and Texases, and once you actually do find New York it's the only one for another twenty pages that you'll spend squinting through the neat font only to find out it's only for graduates and you need to do it AGAIN. So instead of finding scholarships offered from ARKANSAS to what ever the last A state is you're finding the AA STUDENT scholarship from Washington and the AB STUDENT one that's from the other side of the country.

The book itself is informative, it's very much so; but the absolutely awful organization made me want to rip my hair out. It's like shifting through a bunch of test papers for a third grade class who never correctly learned how to write and trying to organize them by last name and at least a quarter of them didn't even put their names on the paper, so you have to put them all in a separate pile and....

the book came in on time and had the appropriate data for each scholarship, but lacks quite a bit of data regarding financial eligibility for each. Also, it would have been good to have a searchable CD/DVD included with it where you enter your search criteria (i.e., woman, Sciences, Hawaiian, Irish, Financial constrained, etc) so that you can get a list more suited to that criteria. Even when you found a scholarship that looked like a fit, we had to go online and look up the specific details, and saw at least 20% more data and eligibility criteria that was not included in the book. Also, some scholarships are only good at certain colleges/universities, mentioned online, but not in the book.

As such, only 3 of 5 stars. Lots of room for improvement.

Don't buy this book electronically. It is completely impossible to search it and thus forcing you to go through every single scholarship, which is absurd. They would do their readers some justice by making this ebook more interactive with the chapters broken down by category and searchable within that. Hey 2014 called and they want you to update your ebook.
