I just finished this book and I absolutely loved it. It's very different from what most of what David Horowitz has written in the past. Like all his works, this book is thoughtful and insightful, but it is also charming and intimate. It helped me to see a side of others I do not take enough time to think about. And while I like animals, I am not an animal lover. Through his unique writing abilities, Horowitz has shown me how it is that people love their pets the way they do. I have never had a pet, but Horowitz's descriptions of the relationships between animals and owners almost make me want to invest in a pet tomorrow.

I very much admire David Horowitz and enjoyed the insight into his thinking about a wide variety of everyday events common to many people. I also enjoyed several pieces of philosophy he had sprinkled throughout the book. But there didn't seem to be lots of meat to it. I am glad I bought it but just not as thrilled with it as I have been with his other writings.
