I have enjoyed everything I have read by Hallee Bridgeman and this did not disappoint. This is a special Christmas Novella, inspired by the Jewel Series, but can also be read as a stand alone book.

This is the story of Madeline Viscolli, earning her MBA off the Gulf shores of Alabama, destined to run her father's massive corporation and Joe Westcott, in charge of Cru, formerly called Campus Crusade for Christ, on campus, wanting nothing to do with wealth and anything connected to it. And so the story begins.

Fast forward a year, and still the connection between these two vibrant, strong personalities has not happened. Of course a teacher dating a student would not be easily accepted, even if she was a

One night at a Cru meeting, the big subject of concern was the upcoming hurricane Leroy, even more so for Madeline when she was reminded that Joe lived on a boat. It was also during this discussion that each discovered the true identity of the other. A definite surprise to both.

Home, safe in her rented home, she texted Joe and got one back stating he was, "Snug & Secure. Thanks for checking.

Should she believe him?...With her head bowed and eyes closed, she prayed for Joe's safety. Then she realized she should actually pray for the entire city, so she elaborated on her prayer." pg. 27

This is a nice quick read packed with a wonderful story about wealth, unforgiveness and letting go of your past. Some of us think that being wealthy is the most important thing in finding happiness. We believe with money, we will be happier, have lots of friends and live an easy care free life. The book is written with depth as it explores the different ways the characters handle being wealthy.

In this book, the author tells a story about Joe who is a very dedicated man of faith. He ministers to college students and is content with his life. He starts to fall for a young woman named Madeline. As they start to grow closer, Joe decides he can't be in a relationship with her. He has found out that her family is extremely wealthy and it bothers him. He is afraid to let someone in, to trust someone , to love them. Will Joe let go and trust God? Can Joe follow God for direction in his life , or turn away and stay alone forever ? What reaction will Madeline have when Joe tells her about his painful past? Will a tragedy during the holidays bring Joe close to his father again? Can he forgive his father for the painful childhood he endured?

Don't miss this great intriguing story of redemption, letting go of the past and learning to trust God . I really enjoyed the way the author focused on the struggles that being wealthy can cause. We don't realize how "the love of money " can destroy relationships until it is to late. The author has done an amazing job of showing readers how unforgiveness can lead to mistrust, loneliness and bitterness. I loved the realism between Joe and his estranged father. The past is sometimes painful, but it can be a lesson to learn to trust God and know He never gives us more than we can handle.

Madeline Viscolli comes from wealth and is in a graduate program in Alabama. She meets Joe on her first day on campus. He is a Pastor and Leader of a Christian group on campus called CRU. Even though there is a mutual attraction between the two, Joe does not want a romance with any student.
Joe Wescott is a young man who gave up when wealth to serve God. He does not want a relationship with anyone especially Madeline Viscolli. He believes that wealth corrupts and he is not ready to face this attraction to Madeline.
Joe and Madeline’s story reminds us that we must trust God and he will direct our path. There are times when God will answer a need that you did not know that you have. You have to decide if trusting God is worth it or not.
I could not wait to read this book and I was not disappointed.
This was an enjoyable read. I really look forward to reading Ms. Bridgeman’s book. Her stories are so interested and relatable concerning the issues we face in our Christian walk. She writes about characters that her readers can see themselves in. Her heroines and heroes are Christian men and women who struggle with knowing where God is leading them and how to have a relationship with the opposite sex that pleases him. They remind us that we are sinners in need of God’s grace. It does not matter if you have money or not you need God in your life.
One of my favorites in the book was Proverbs 3:5-6. This is the second book that I have read this week that has highlighted this verse. When God wants to remind you of what is important, he will use any medium to get his point across.
