I have a large library of travel books and picked this one up as a new edition travel book covering the area, which I plan to visit this year. I also have Moon books on the same region that are several years old, so I hoped getting a newer version from a different perspective would be insightful.

Unfortunately, it seems that the book tries to cover such a large region, that there are few actual details on many places as compared to the Moon books. For example, I am looking at visiting Kootenay National Park and it has but 3 small paragraphs of coverage.

It is well organized and if you want a nice read on the breadth of the larger area, it is fine, but if you want some deeper details to help plan a trip, it is a bit lacking. For that reason, I give it 3 stars.

I'm a Lonely Planet Guide fan, and bought this for my upcoming visit to Victoria and Vancouver. This one disappointed me though. I found it difficult to navigate. The other Kindle Versions of Lonely Planet Guides had many more bookmarks and "Go To's" set up.

I felt there were far too many pages of proposed itineraries. Perhaps this was because I only had an interest in those two cities and not the region. I really can't think of any information that I obtained from the guide that was useful.

This title just did not work in Kindle format. The table of contents was worthless, maps unreadable, index lacking. Searches gave results in any order with absolutely no indication of importance. You pretty much have to read everything to find anything. I'll stick to paper

We left for a 6 1/2 week tent camping tour of the Canadian Rockies and Alaska with everything the three of us needed...except the guide books I had purchased! I left them all at home! In my defense, planning such a long trip for myself and my 10 year-old twins took a mental toll, but imagine my embarrassment and disappointment to get to Wyoming and realize I have no guide book for Canada? So while we lunched, I downloaded this baby to my tablet and Voila! We had a guide book for all the areas we were visiting! With the e-version it's so easy to cross-reference using the search tool and it allowed us to make or change plans on the fly. Next time I probably won't even bother with the paper versions as this is a much better way to purchase guide books, especially if your car (or luggage) space is limited!

Lonely Planet does such a nice job and they are really good about including camping in the accommodations areas...something REALLY important to us! So glad I purchased this!
