I was looking for some costume references for Royal Navy Officers for the Napoleonic era and this was perfect--it includes some of the clothing regulations as well as lots of illustrations--it's a great reference in general for the Royal Navy of the period, though you should get Nelson's Sailors if you want more information on the regular able seamen, and British Napoleonic Ship of the Line for cutaways of the Victory and ship lore of the period.

The Osprey Books always provide an excellent summary. It doesn't go into exhaustive detail, but it doesn't need to. It is a very good starting point for anyone interested in the British Navy of this era.

Missing the color plates. An incomplete book. The book description should indicate it does not include very important illustrations. Do not buy!
