This is a must have book for Lightroom users at all levels. Victoria's unique style is part of what makes this work so great. She covers every area of Lightroom in a "Question and Answer" format...questions that come not only from her own usage of Lightroom, but from her customers and colleagues alike. Have a question? Look it up and find the answer. But the real bonus is that she doesn't simply answer the question, she provides the how, when and why behind the question. I wish this had been my first book on Lightroom. I could have purchased her entire library instead. Great job Victoria! I will definitely be a repeat customer in the future.

A little Background is in order to begin; I've been involved in Photography to a greater or lesser degree on and off for a bit more than 50 years.
I've done extensive work in film formats from sub-35mm to 8x10 sheet film, and the largest color print I have made was 18 x 38 FEET, when a Custom Lab I worked as Technical Director for created 225 of them for interior Billboards for a corporate client.
Now Retired from the IT Industry, I am back pursuing one of my lifelong passions, Photography, now in the Digital World.

Everybody has their own particular approach to learning and reference, and Victoria Bampton has accomplished what I find to be probably the best approach for a combination Learning/Reference Tool for Lightroom CC/6 that I can imagine.
I have to admit that I have two of her previous Lightroom FAQ books, for Lightroom 4 and 5, and found them to consistently be the most CONTINUALLY useful Photographic Software Books I have used.
Some Photographic books are written to convey concepts and techniques and that is the end of it. Victoria's LR FAQ books, and PARTICULARLY this newest LR CC/6 edition, there is BOTH a "New User" thread directed throughout the book but also EXTENSIVE ongoing/reference resource value on a Day-to-Day basis.
As if that wasn't enough, when you buy the book the EBOOK versions are a FREE addition, as well as the HUGE additional benefit of Her Website and Helpdesk resource that is only available to buyers/subscribers.
Bottom Line: BEST Photographic Book AND Electronic Resource that I have for Lightroom, bar none.Read more ›

Another excellent job from Victoria Bampton.

I own a previous LR version FAQ and that was done in B&W. This is color which is a nice improvement. Note this is not color plates but printed color. To me it's not an issue - while I'm sure color plates would have been nicer to look at the paper would not have been as reader friendly plus the large book I'm sure a lot heavier.

So why buy a book like this is today's age of searching for everything? If I need to remember or find out how to do something in LR then the internet is full of help and of course there's always Julieanne Kost's wonderful videos. But a book should be a different pitch. For instance, I wanted to create a book so read the book chapter. Excellent and gave me a good overview and informed me a few things I didn't know - unlikely in a search.

I haven't read the whole book yet - far from it! However, so far excellent and impressed.

And I hope Charlie, Victoria's dog, is getting rewarded to for his modelling!

I love this book!! I got an upgrade form Lightroom 5 by Victoria and I am so pleased with the color photos and extended text she has gone into in this new addition. Any question you may have...you can find an answer in this book. And if for some reason, you can't find the answer, you can email Victoria and she will walk you through the steps you need. I am new to Lightroom and found this book to be essential!!! I would definitely recommend this book to beginners and those more experienced.

Yes, it is a different type of LR book.Haven't had a chance to use it too much yet, bu I have used it already to solve specified problems. That's the strength of this book. It well indexed and written in such a way to easy find solutions written in photographers language and LR program user problems.I already have a number of LR books and almost didn't purchase this on, but I'm glad I did. It is written in a different style that gives the impression she earned he name as " The Lightroom Queen". She does understand potential problem areas that a typical LR user might need help with to better understand. It's a very big book but you won't be reading it cover to cover. You will be using it only to look up solutions to specific LR user problems. Much like an encyclopedia.

THIS IS THE BOOK TO GET!
in any case

ELEGANTLY written (not like that raving maniac Scott Kelby who has about one quarter cogent text with the rest completely all over the field ravings and rantings such as advice to go catch the latest KISS/Def LEppard concert and how his publisher loves him filling up pages and pages with NOTHINGNESS)

clearly and logically presented

brilliant prose, accessible yet accurate (DId you ever think how and why FAQ takes the indefinite article "an" and not "a?")

love this book

unlike Kelby's carpings

I also love DuChemin's wonderful Lightroom book, musings over achieving your truest vision by this powerful tool, but in her book, Kelby takes us delightfully by the little hand through just everything there is, with the exception of the appendices which while alluring in their titles are available only through registration.

SO KEEP THAT PACKING SLIP, unless you do know how to make a "screenshot." I am assuming it does not involve firearms of any sort.

THE BOOK TO GET ON LIGHTROOM!

over six hundred pages of important information, a large amount yet well and easily digestibly organized, with reference to fiurther sources, such as the all important grail of the keyboard shortcut listing, which KELBY REFUSES TO SHARE, while he rants about some other weird and irrelevant matter which passes through his turgid mind . . .

Get this great book and know your Lightroom well.

Our Lightroom Queen calls us.
