Disappointing. It was identified as a story, not a short story (not even long enough for a novella) $2.99 for 52 pages (Kindle version)? Someone has entirely to high of an opinion of these 3 chapters. I will be very careful to check the page count of this author in the future as I would not have purchased it if I had checked the page count.

I bought this short story knowing full well it was a short story. I wanted to see if I liked the writing style before I spent a bunch of money on the entire series that I was interested in.

The first thing I noted is that this seems to be the first in the "Kid Sensation" series, but the second in the series as a whole. I was very confused until I actually started reading. The descriptions of the books imply a "Young Indiana Jones" style prequel series, but that isn't the case at all. Read them in publication order if you want to understand the chronology.

As for this story as a standalone: It does a decent job of explaining the events of the first book. This makes you want to read the rest of the series, but keeps you following along the plot. Because the plot of the first book is vital to the plot of this book.

In a story that felt ripped from the Dwayne McDuffie playbook (a very good thing for a superhero story) we get to see a young superhero plan and execute a rescue mission to save a girl who helped him in a previous adventure. He must do so, however, without using all of his powers, because he's the only one in the world with that unique combination of abilities and could be identified by them.

I liked the plot, and the overall story, but it felt rushed. What could have been an entire 20 chapter book was spit out in about 3. The entire thing felt like a first draft; with exposition handed to the reader, instead of woven carefully in; the entire plot spilled on the page as fast as possible, instead of taking its time and immersing us; and one of the main characters barely doing anything, even though he's painted as vital to the mission.

I did like the overall story, and the characters were interesting enough to pull me through.

As with the other readers who purchased this book, I didn't take the time to check the page count, which I normally do, thinking it was simply another full novel. However, the price was right and the story is still worthy of your time. If you have read the first two novel in this series, this short story will be a good addition to what you have already read. Read the first two novels in this series if you have not already done so, then order this one and the next. You will be glad that you did. They are a good clean read, a fantastic escape from the barge of four letter words that today's author's are trying to push upon us.

This is a series that has managed to avoid the major pitfalls of superhero fiction, even though the main character has so many abilities as to be theoretically overwhelmingly powerful.

But the author hasn't allowed that to happen. Instead he creates problems that have to be solved with thought and cleverness. Here Kid Sensation tries to fulfill the promise he made in Mutation to rescue and free the precognitive girl who had assisted in an attack on him to protect her family. He's helped by his friends and while the book here is far too short, it displays the growth of the characters.

Great fun and makes me hope for the next book in the series.

Thankfully it was for a dollar, otherwise I would not have bothered buying this story. For all intents and purposes it can be considered a short story and seems to act more as a filler than anything else. If you are into Kevin Hardman and his Kid Sensation stories then I say go ahead and buy it. Otherwise save the money and time.

Even though this was really short I loved it. Kid is back and in style. In this book, he returns the favor that is owed and he runs into someone unexpectly. If you want to find out buy this book. The only reason I gave it four stars is because I wanted it to be longer.

How can this be book 3 in the series when it's not even 60 pages in length!?

Ridiculous. I enjoyed the first 2 books in this but the author's lost his mind if he thinks charging 3 bucks for a short story is in anyway 'OK'.

He lost me as a fan. Gouge your other fans, maybe they're more easily duped than this one was.

I chose this rating because I enjoyed reading the books. I was able to escape from my everyday life into the stories. I have always enjoyed reading about Super heroes, such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, etc. I will be purchasing another set for my nephews. I think that these stories can one day be into movies. I enjoyed everything about the book. There was nothing that I disliked.
