I received this book for free from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I thought this book was going to be about a tomboy, her three best guy friends, and her dealing with the fact that she was falling in love with one of them. Instead it was about a girl who was a little rough around the edges, growing into herself as a young woman, and realizing that she has been in love with her best friend for a while.
The relationship between Toni and Micah was cute, and I did like reading about how she learns to accept her girliness. What I didn’t much care for was Toni’s other two friends, Cowboy and Ollie. Actually Cowboy was okay, but Ollie was obnoxious!

Ollie and Toni pull a stupid prank that gets them in trouble, and he spends the rest of the book being a gigantic jerk to her because the prank was her idea. This kid got on my nerves. I just knew there had to be a deeper reason he was being so hard on her because it’s not like he wasn’t really into the idea of the prank, but no, he just decided to blame her for everything that went wrong in his life, and started treating her like crap.

I love books about girls with guy friends because I happen to believe that men and women can be great friends, but Ollie was not very friendly. I understood why he was mad at her, but the book would have been much more enjoyable if he had just let it go.
Cowboy wasn’t around enough for me to say much about him. He was nice, but it didn’t feel like he and Toni really had a connection either. Toni spent a lot of time worrying that she was losing her three best friends, but I never got a glimpse of their friendship. All they seemed to do was bicker and misunderstand each other.

4 Sweet Stars

This was such a sweet enjoyable read. It wasn't an on the edge of your seat, unable to stop reading kind of story, but it was enjoyable none the less.

One of the Guys is the story of Toni Valentine aka McRib. Toni has always been one of the guys. She has had an almost idealistic childhood. One that she is having trouble letting go of. Toni and the guys are getting ready to start their senior year. Toni can feel the changes starting and she is afraid. Aren't we all afraid of change? So she desperately tries to cling to her friends and keep them together. However, the harder she tries to keep them close, the more everyone seems to distance themselves. Change is inevitable.

To add further complication to her life, she gets thrust into a new school.... an all girl school, she realizes that she is starting to get weird feelings about her best friend, and she has started a very lucrative.... and somewhat dangerous business.

This is such a great story of personal growth, of tackling fears, broadening horizons, and embracing life. Toni is a very likable main character. This story is full of moments that will bring you back in time and make you remember what it was like to be young and on the cusp of adulthood and all the changes that brought. The cast of secondary characters are great and likeable as well.

What kept me from giving it more stars? For me the pacing was slow at times. While I really enjoyed the story and recommend it, it just wasn't the type of story that made me forget the real world existed. Also the ending.... it just ended. I really hope that maybe there is a sequel in the works? I want to hear more about these lovable characters and what lies ahead for them.

Overall this was a good read and I recommend it for anyone looking for that light, cute, sweet story.

This story is full of Adorableness!! (Yes that may not be a real word but it's how I feel) this is a quick and fun read. There is laughter, sweetness, and of course angst. The characters draw you in with all of their hijinx and real life issues that we may have all gone through at some point while growing up, but most of all this book keeps you interested throughout the entire thing. I couldn't stop turning the page always wanting just abit more! Toni won me over with her spunky personality and I definitely could've seen myself being friends with someone like her. Loch (known as Micha) (God how I love that name) had me weak in the knees from the very first page. This baby most certainly is a Must Buy! A Must Read! so Go NOW and Snatch it up!!!!

Tonya, AKA Toni, has a lot of growing up to do. This is a story about a tomboy turning into a mature young lady, but seems reluctant to do so. Toni the tomboy has only 3 male friends that she grew up with, but as all four of them embark on their senior year things start changing and Toni doesn't like it. All types of teenage troubles happen to each person in the group; love blooms between two friends; there's problems at school; there's hurt amongst close friends; and then there's new friendships that are made. Good read for me, specially since I was a tomboy when I was younger, so it was a reflection of my young self

When Toni (McRib to her guy friends) takes a high school prank too far and finds herself pulled from her public high school and forced into an all girls school her senior year, her life may as well be over. Leaving behind her three best friends: Cowboy, Loch, and Ollie, (all male) and their weekend outings to find Champ, the lake monster of Lake Champlain, she finds herself in a world of nail polish, high heels, and more estrogen than she can possibly take. But when she makes friends with Emma, another misfit at her new school, she finds someone that she has a lot more in common with than she had anticipated. When Emma’s boyfriend dumps her and she’s desperate to win him back, she looks to Toni and her male friends (Loch in particular) to help make her ex jealous.

When Toni and Emma realize that there is a market for a “rent a boyfriend” service, Toni’s Rent-A-Gent service is born. It’s a win-win situation. The girls at her school have a date to cover whatever their purpose might be (in one case the girl needs a boy to cover for when she is out with her girlfriend, another needs to provide proof of the imaginary boyfriend she created), and the boys will earn money towards whatever it is they need. But when Toni sees Loch getting more attention than she is comfortable with, she needs to question the nature of the relationship. Has their relationship gone beyond the brotherly love of their youth, and just how does Loch feel about Toni? Will the friendship between the four of them fade as they get closer to leaving for college?

But it isn’t just the relationship with her friends that changes over the course of the story.
