5.0 out of 5 stars Beware : this is one of the fifty best french films ever !, December 4, 2004

(TOP 100 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
I have always been and admirer of Sacha Guitry . I have in my personal collection this lovely , superb , incisive and expressive film , plenty of that special distilled charm you guess of the genius .
Try to find as soon as possible this item . It extraordinary all the way ; the odyssey in search of the Pearls will be the pretext for Guitry to show all his imagination powers .
The other film I recommend you is Le roman de un tricheur (The diary of a cheater).
An elegant and unforgettable film and one of the most striking movies of the thirties .
A treasure !

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of Sacha Guitry, August 30, 1999
By A Customer
Sacha Guitry was under a cloud after the war as collaborator. That should not detract from the fact that he made the best movies in France, head andshoulders above his contemporaries. This movie tells history in incomparable French with a high class dialogue.
