How's the singing-pickle genre of your video collection coming along? Here is the first collection of songs spanning the first few Christian-lite computer-animated VeggieTales videos. The lyrics appear on the screen, and that's good news since they are so much fun. The variety of music is also remarkable: calypso ("The Lagoon Song"), Argentinean folk ("Dance of the Cucumber"), and Broadway spectacle ("The Bunny Song"). It also contains the first catchy number from the singing vegetables, "God Is Bigger (than the Boogie Man)." The music in the videos is the most consistently entertaining element of the series, and this collection (11 songs) is great for any fan. The popular Silly Songs with Larry segment is represented by "Love My Lips," "The Hairbrush Song," and a new, witty song, only available on this video, "The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything" ("...and we've never been to Boston in the fall!"). --Doug Thomas

5.0 out of 5 stars Addictive!, July 11, 2000
By A Customer
Warning! This video is addictive. The songs presented here are from a variety of the Veggie Tales videos. It also includes a special song, The Pirates who don't do anything, that cannot be found anywhere else. The songs are catchy but not irritating. The humor is on many different levels. A two year old and their parents would both find this entertaining at the same time. The songs are musically well written and interesting. The majority of the songs are from the Silly Songs with Larry segment. While not necessarily preaching a Christian message, through their clean and silly fun, they show that being Christian isn't boring. Wonderful introduction to the Veggie Tales series. Great for younger ones who might not be ready to follow a half hour long story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Like butter on a bald monkey, November 9, 1999
By A Customer
My mom showed me these videos when I was home on break from school, and I wasn't really expecting to like them since I have never seen any comtemporary Christian videos for kids that weren't hideously cheesy.

However, Larry and Bob are another story. This cartoon series has the rare ability to entertain all ages; in fact, there are some bits of humor that I doubt an 8-year-old would get ("Definitely time for Wapner").

So when I got back to school and found the Silly Songs video, I must admit I bought it... and watched it... and made all my roommates watch it too. And now scarcely a day goes by when I don't find myself singing "Miren al pepino..." under my breath.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absloutely entertaining!, November 14, 1999
I teach both in a Catholic school and Sunday school, so I am constantly on the lookout for anything that is educational, entertaining, and appealing to as many age groups as possible. When I first saw Veggie Tales, I laughed so hard I cried! My students have asked for them again and again, and I bought a set of tapes for my four children (aged 5-12). They are frequently watched (even when the kids aren't home)! My favorite is The Hairbrush Song! This particular tape is the newest to our collection, and will soon be worn out, too!
