I had been looking for an x-large ruled notebook for my grad school writing seminar for awhile now. This notebook is the luxury model of notebooks. The pages are a satisfying weight, the elastic strap snaps just so, and the rules are the perfect width on every page. The cover is durable, and it has a lay-flat binding. There's even a heavyweight folder in the back. This is the nicest notebook I have ever had in my life. I have many Moleskines and I will never go back to using anything else.

These are fantastic new softcover notebooks. They have paper like the XL Caher notebooks with college ruled lines and the covers are like the other softcovers. The best part is that the covers will stay flat when placed on the table after you pressed down on the spine. You can even fold the cover over to the back and write on one sheet like a spiral bound notebook, although the pages won't sit as flat.

Everything else is just like other Moleskines:. the elastic band, the back pocket, and the personal info/rewards front page.

i purchased several of these Extra Large Moleskines for my fiance, who writes a lot, after i was disheartened seeing his beautiful work penned in ratty 99 cent spiral notebooks. he's now a Moleskine devotee. he reports, specifically, that the spacing of the ruled lines is "PERFECT". his joy is my joy. if you love your Writer, buy him/her some of these delicious notebooks. perhaps you will be rewarded... not only with love, but with a novella penned in adoration!

This is the first Moleskine Notebook I've purchased. I read all the reviews before I made my purchase. I have to agree with the other reviewers that this is indeed a great notebook. I love the braided bookmark, the envelope at the back, and the elastic band closure. I use a Pilot G-Tec C-4 gel pen to write in it and I've not had difficulty with the ink bleeding. This notebook serves the purpose that I use it for beautifully! Thank you Moleskine! (I also found the history of this notebook printed on the insert - very interesting!)

I first bought Moleskine as per the recommendation of another student in my field. I'm studying geology, and a lot of the information we learn in our pre-requisite classes remain very important through our upper classes and the rest of our careers. Thus, it is important we have our notes survive with us and last a long while. It's even more important that they're sturdy enough to hold up for heavy travel and camping.

Overall, the quality is excellent. I've never had an issue with the quality of a moleskine notebook. They're excellently bounded, pages don't fall out, and they don't wear out easily. I've used a lot of bounded notebooks that typically don't last the year - these have remained put together, and it has been several years of leafing through them for reference.

The pages take ink very well, and are a soft creamy white - which makes writing for long periods easy on the eyes. The small touches such as the ribbon bookmark and the elastic band make a huge difference - find your place quickly for more notes, and the band prevents the notebook from opening up and allowing pages to become crinkled and crushed. The binding is strong and rigid along the spine, and is like a book. You can simply store these on bookshelves without any difficulty.

From my understanding, the cover is not made out of actual leather, but are an oiled paper of sorts that cover cardboard. Even with that in mind, the cover feels excellent and can withstand quite a beating.

I highly recommend this notebook for important notes and ideas - as the price is substantially higher than simple ringed notebooks. What really sells on their value is that this notebook will last, and that makes it worth the price. They are ideal for college in my opinion, and are a joy to write in.

I often use a cheap Office Max notebook of the same size with hard-bound covers. This arrived, and is much more flimsy than I expected; we're talking newspaper flimsy. I may use it later for professional notes, but I ended up getting the Moleskine Squared Soft Notebook Large in "Flexibound" instead. I find it's the exact same product, but sized 5" x 8.25", which is less floppy merely because it is smaller.

The binding is great, the paper is typical high-quality moleskin product; I simply feel the size is impractical, unless it were hardcover.

Just the right size for a work notebook (it lies between the "large" and "A4" journal sizes. I use this notebook for my bullet journaling. It does not have pre-printed page numbers, but those are easy to add manually. The paper has an easy-on-the-eyes beige tone, ink does not soak through (although you can see "shadows" from writing on the other side), and the notebook sits very flat. I love the pocket in the back. Includes one page marker and an elastic closure band. The cover is sift but durable. The folder in the back gives some extra rigid support to the rear of the binder. Excellent product

Originally bought to use as a trip diary for a journey that was going to be too long to fit into a standard trip journal the quality of the product means I can see myself buying more of them for similar specific purposes. The moleskin is a novelty, the pouch on the inside back cover is useful for storing a few leaflets of paper and the binding appears strong. Certainly it has withstood being jammed with innumerable mementos. The whole thing is kept tidy with the elastic that is firmly attached to the body of notebook.

No way would you ordinarily pay this much for a mere notebook but for a specific project this makes a very good purchase.
