I'm telling you... Johan's books are the best when it comes to windows deployement. You shoudl also check out his blog. I built my MDT system before I read his last book. Man... I could have saved myself so much time if I had that book before I built it. It's literally a step by step how to on deployment. You can't get much better than this.

The book will take you through setup of MDT, creating your images and more. I like that it's put in the terms of a real world situation and it's not just some textbook with a bunch of garbage you don't want. You don't have to wade through this text to get what you need because it's all great information.

I was only a couple of days into MDT, when I decided to buy the book (in Kindle format). I "knew" the writers from their respective blogs which offer excellent training videos and other information and with the help of Youtube I managed to get a pretty decent setup for a complete newbie. But, I had a few key questions about important stuff regarding full automation settings and best practices (some of them I didn't even knew I needed to know :-) ). So instead of scouring the Internet and forums for help, I thought that for 12,29 $, it is best to try and get the full gist in one go. And I was spot on! The book is great, it is written in plain English (especially good if English is not your native language) and it takes you by the hand, step-by-step into setting up a fully automated, production ready Windows deployment solution!
First 1/3 of the book goes into some detail about all the tools, bells & whistles used by the MDT (2012 SP1, not 2013) environment, the key features of Windows 8 (not 8.1) and then comes the... fun! Step by step instructions about setting up an MDT Lab, creating a Windows 8 reference deployment image (excellent part, that cleared a lot of confusion for me) and then moving on to setting up the MDT Production environment.
All in all an excellent offer by the masters of the subject.

This is an excellent resource. Going from no prior MDT knowledge to be able to setup a production Lite Touch solution has turned out great. Not only is the book helpful, but the scripts that are part of the sample files are great additions. Highly recommended.

They are many people out there writing about MDT and SCCM, most not very well, but everyone at Truesec knows this stuff inside and out because they actually do it in real life as well as teach it. If you are trying to get started with MDT/SCCM, this is the best resource out there. I can't wait to go to their class in May.

Not only is the book well written but the real life examples and the hydration kit works great so that you can use MDT and get real hands on experience. I travel and use the hydration kit all the time to build new lab environments in order to test scenarios for my customers

Not only does Johan do a great job at stepping you through builds but he provides plenty of real world notes and how you might implement some of the features of MDT. He's also taken the time to answer a couple questions I've sent him and even added the info to his blog to help others in similar situations.
