Martha Copeland recorded a total of 34 tracks. This CD contains 12 (the rest are on Volume 1). Whole Copeland may have not been the best blues singer, this collection should be noted for the accompanying music which includes some very good coronet work including Irving Peskin for whom there is very little recorded music.

There is more information available for Irene Scruggs (11 tracks) who mainly played clubs in the St. Louis area (she later moved to Europe following World War II). Scruggs was noted for "dirty blues," most of which are not recorded. Her songs tend to be more suggestive. Scruggs sometimes used full bands.

There is some recording noise (orginals were on 78s). The tracks are:

1. "Shooting Star Blues" Martha Copeland (vocal), Porter Grainger (piano), Bob Fuller (cl)

2. "Good Time Mama Blues" same personnel as track one.

3. "Wylie Avenue Blues" Martha Copeland (vocal), with her Smokey City Trio (Andrew Mead, alto sax, Ralph Jones, violin, and Porter Grainger, piano)

4. "Everybody Does it Now" Martha Copeland (vocal), same personnel as track three.

5. "Bank Failure Blues" Martha Copeland (vocal), Peter Grainger (piano)

6. "Second Hand Daddy" Martha Copeland (vocal), Peter Grainger (piano)

7. "I Can't Give you Anything but Love" Martha Copeland (vocal), Irving Peskin (coronet), Rube Bloom (piano)

8. "My Daddy Can't Do Nothin' Bad" same personnel as track 7
