so damn fun 2 listen 2 10 years (! ) down the road. u come back listening 2 this because u wonder what r&b is supposed 2 sound like, and u know u ain't gettin it from the artists of 2day. some of the beats are still so fresh and should be practiced by drummers lookin 4 that dead-on yet slippery as a fish funk beat. good 2 kick back 2 w/a smile on your face. this groove is so hard it'll make your feet start kickin and if it don't then get the cement offa them!

All except the tail end where it tails off a little, this album is classic masterpiece. The title is symbolic in that I wish we could revive some of these late 80s, 90s groups and save black music!

Back in 1990, this was THE R&B band. Along with groups like Mint Condition, they were the last of a dying breed of real musicians who incorporated hip hop beats and real musicianship. Unfortunately, R&B has had a decline. This album contains songs about love, life, and relationships. They don't make R&B like that anymore. I sure do miss those days.

I love this group and I love this Cd. These guys are great. Every song whether fast or slow is hot. My favorites are Feels good, The Blues, It never rains, Whatever you want, Don't talk about me, I care, & Those were the days. There are many other great songs but I just wanted to name a few. I am happy that I purchased this Cd! It was a great buy! Pick up a copy asap!

Toni Toni Tone were a band that impressed me from the moment I heard them. As someone generally always attracted to well produced and engineered live funk, soul, pop and rock groups? Upon first seeing the band perform on SNL in 1993 really peaked my interest to seek out the rest of their sadly all too brief recorded catalog. Their albums were always floating around. And never difficult to get a hold of. But only last year did I round out my collection with their first two albums. This is their second release, from 1990. By that time? Hip-hop derived music, especially mixed with soul/R&B were the mainstream. And again? Toni had their own way of swimming with the musical tide.

"Feels Good" opens the album with a vocal harmony drenched, percussive funk/house with samples of female breathing and jazzy vocalese in the back round. "All The Way" is a JB style digitized new jack funk number led by an electronic slide whistle. "The Blues" and "Let's Have a Good Time" follow a similar lead. "Oakland Stroke" is a rap oriented hip-hop funk tribute featuring vocal help from Vanessa Williams as well as horn samples from Kool & The Gang. "Sky's The Limit","Don't Talk About Me" and "Skin Tight" are more straight up new jack dance music. The ballads "It Never Rains (In Southern California)","I Care" and "Whatever You Want" are expansive urban contemporary slow jams.

"Jo-Jo" is pounding mid 80's style dance/funk while "Those Were The days" is an early 90's re-write of Stevie Wonder's "I Wish" both musically and lyrically-this time lamenting the violence and paranoia of contemporary urban life over the freedom of bygone days specifically.

So happy I purchased this CD. Back in the 90's I wasn't that into the new jack swing thing because I was deep into the old school groups and music such as the Dramatics, Delfonics, Barry White, Teddy Pendergrass, etc. This summer my family and I PARTY-ed and had a good time at a recent BBQ with this Revival CD.

Yes! Yes! Yes! This cd is one of my favorites. "Whatever You Want" is IT.
Please get this cd. If you are cleaning the house, pop in this cd. This cd has some songs you can do some cleaning to....but save my favorite when it is time to do the vacuuming or mopping. This is something you can jam to. If you have some kids or grandkids, introduce them to some good clean music. Enjoy this cd and enjoy the memory you make with the fam. THIS IS A MUST BUY!

Admittedly, I didn't know much about Tony, Toni, Tone until this album. I was once listening to an R & B radio station out of Greensboro, NC in 1990 and let me tell you, when I first heard "It Feels Good", I was hooked on them forever!

As for the album, it was one of their early albums and while not perfect, it had a lot of the sound that we would come to know in later years with stuff like "The Blues", "Oakland Stroke" with Vanessa Williams (yes THAT Vanessa Williams that used to be married to basketball star Rick Fox) and "The Sky." It produced two legendary slow jams in "It Never Rains (In Southern California)" and "Whatever You Want." It also has a fun track called "Those Were The Days" which is quite relevant today. While not meant to be a statement song, it almost could be with the way things are now in the world!

Anyway, it isn't quite a five star but its no worse than a three star CD. I am personally giving it a four. My personal recommendation is get all their original CD's to get the fullness of this timeless group!
