Editorial Reviews

Review

Glyph is a full-blown effort in every way - great mix, dynamic songs with a variety of styles and deliveries - very cool. --Alternative Press

Product Description

Floater's powerful sophomore release showcases their unique blend of thick, chunky grooves and provocatively emotive vocals, pushing the sonic envelope even further. Produced by Grammy nominated Drew Canulette (Nirvana, Soundgarden, Neil Young), Glyph contains the radio smash and reluctant anthem, The Sad Ballad of Danny Boy.

5.0 out of 5 stars most played at concerts....., January 17, 2000
By "sidheshell" (Corvallis, Oregon) - See all my reviews
I think that the songs on this album make up a majority of the songs that are played at the concerts. I could not say that it is the best of their albums or not, because in truth all three of their studio albums have somthing unique to them....although this is the cd i probably listen the least to, but it is still great. This album has the most accesible songs and lyrics, which is probably why it gets so much play time at concerts. EVERYONE sings along to the songs from this album, such as Cinema, Clean Plastic Baby, All the Stories but One and Danny Boy. Also everyone who goes to Floater concerts enjoys something to sing (shout, scream) along to i think......

And as i said in my review of angels/devils, it is like a story, so listen to the whole thing through....

Also I really enjoy Cinema because the harmony is really easy to figure out.....there is nothing quite as great as a song which lends itself to harmonization... and that is the difference between Floater and other "metal" (grimace) bands.....harmony within their chaos....(smile)

5.0 out of 5 stars All about it!, June 5, 2004
By "selfrecyclable" (Seattle, WA USA) - See all my reviews
This was the first album I ever heard Floater, and thus was the first time their completely unique and moving sound hit my eardrums. This album is a definite for first time listeners, as it moves everywhere from Tool like metal to an obvious affection for style somewhere in the psychedelic Pink Floyd style This band absolutely blows me away with every incarnation, and (being as I grew up in Eugene Or, their home town) I have missed seeing these songs played live But this is definitely the next best thing, engrossing, thought provoking, and fantastically sculpted, this album is an independent milestone, for a band that knows no boundaries.

5.0 out of 5 stars I've been Made a pet, December 1, 1999
By evanisgod (Oregon) - See all my reviews
I have seen this band numorous times and can't possibly imagine something more. This is this most true band that can thrash and knows how to play. This is my favorite cd of theirs because it capture's more of an aggressive/artistic flare that you could hear but couldn't capture on their debut Sink. I've been a deadicated fan for years and have to say this was the album that made me double take and think more about there potential.
