4.0 out of 5 stars if you liked the B @ T's song..., December 28, 2004
By Tara (Newtown, PA) - See all my reviews
I noticed a lot of folks liked "Breakfast at Tiffany's", then some either liked the rest of it and some didn't. If you like that song (and it is kinda catchy), you are highly likely to like Pop Art, a band I really enjoyed in the mid-late eighties. There is a retrospective CD available, so it's not like you have to go a-hunting for old vinyl. When B@T came out, it was killing me how much it sounded like a Pop Art song. Thought I'd share that obscure gem with anyone who might be reading these reviews!

5.0 out of 5 stars Listen..., October 18, 2000
By "netgyver" (Pennsylvana) - See all my reviews
Deep Blue Something does not equal "Breakfast At Tiffany's". Yes, that song is great, very great. And it was the main reason why I considered adding DBS to my cd collection.

If your expecting every song on this album to be as upbeat and good as "Breakfast At Tiffany's" your going to be disappointed. That's not to say every other song is subpar in contrast, HARDLY!! After listening to this CD twice, I've gotten to the point where I practically love ALL the songs on it. This CD grows on you. And to me, it's those albums that grow on you are the ones that become the most memorable and and my favorates. It's like you discovered a gem and never realized it. Deep Blue Something's HOME album is no exception.

It's hard for me to tell you the songs that are the most appealing on this album. In part, because they all fit together like a puzzle. All the songs carry this audible scent that is DEEP BLUE SOMETHING. The only song that I have troube with is "I can't wait". The lyrics are kind of disturbing. The music is great, it's the lyrics i have trouble relating to and somehow doesn't "fit" into the rest of the album. It talks about him assisting in a suicide of a girl who has lost all hope in life.

Other then that "HOME" is an album I love to hear often, and especially on a rainy day. It has this soothing effect that is upbeat at times and surreal and sorrow filled in others. I can't BELIEVE Deep Blue Something only has two albums out! This is one of the most underrated bands I've stumbled across. And I hope they don't go the way of one hit wonders but come back with a strong album that will carry them into a prosperous musical career.

Don't buy this album for "Breakfast At Tiffany's" only. Buy it and listen with an open mind. It has alot to offer for a good price. This CD is somewhat dated but the music is timeless.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent acoustic stuff, May 4, 2002
By Matthew Jordan "devilmanozzy" (Saint Joseph, IL United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
A Band with one major hit. But I would suggest to check out this band if you like good Alterative Rock bands (sounds like perhaps Weezer, R.E.M., and U2). I'm not too much into this style of music but it is listenable and enjoyable. While I'm not suggesting that this is acoustic, You may like this if you like such music. 1. Gammer Gerten's Needle - A decent song to intro the album. Worth a listen . . .85% .2. Breakfast At Tiffany's - The only true radio hit on the album. It's a decent catchy sound to it. . . .100% .3. Halo - A nice song with catchy guitar. . . . 85% .4. Josey - A tad slower song with that nice guitar and bass. . . . 90% .5. A Water Prayer - faster Paced song. Enjoyable sound to the guitar. . . . 95% .6. Done - Faster song. A tad heavy. Somewhat interesting. But I wouldn't play it to your Girlfriend lol. . . . 95% . 7. A Song To Make Love To - Fast pace song. Good to listen to. . . . 90%8. The Kandinsky Prince - Fast song that is sort of funny. It's a decent laughable song. . . . 95% .9. Home - Softer song. A possible second hit if they had released it as a single. . . . 95% .10. Red Light - Fast decent song. . . . 85% .11. I Can Wait -mostly an acoustic track thats enjoyable. . . . 85% .12. Wouldn't Change A Thing - slower song. It's a true ender. . . . 85% . . If You like this album I would suggest trying out another album by "Deep Blue Something" but other than that: Live - The Distance to here, Better Than Ezra - Deluxe, Jars of Clay -Jars of Clay, Dog's Eye View - Happy Nowhere.
