I love and respect the Ex a great deal since their integrity is well documented and legendary, and since they continue to put out imaginative punk records with DIY flair that less than a handful of bands have matched (CRASS comes immediately to mind).

This was the 1988 album before the great double album Joggers and Smoggers, so it's fairly early in their career. I wish this was better recorded, and I don't go out of my way to let this one grow on me by listening to it over and over again. Joggers invites you in in a way that this doesn't -- at least if you appreciate experimental punk.

"Evolution (?)" is worth the price of the whole album; it's an intense, noisy affair -- but the lyrics are profound as they describe the ecological issue of our age -- the extinction of species -- and the reasons therein. I really wish that people -- even environmentalists -- would dig deeper into this, and reading those lyrics is a way of doing this (since global warming seems to trump loss of habitats as the pop environmental issue of the age).
