The first post-Stone Temple Pilots record from the De Leo brothers plays like old fashioned 70s rock. While STP's sound bore more than a passing resemblance to Zeppelin, their forays into other areas of musical expression weren't always that successful. With Talk Show, the boys get down to business, complete with a new singer, and the results are, well, promising. "Hello Hello" has a monster of a riff that would make even Jimmy Page proud and "Ring Twice" courts the moody minors rather successfully. "Morning Girl," for all its roughness, is a great pop song, and "John" shows the band has some sonic tricks up its sleeve. "End of the World" and "So Long" are also worthy of merit.
