This album is a must have for any patriotic holiday. The songs are stirring with a nice blend of tempos. America the Beautiful, This Land Is Your Land, The Battle Hymn of the Republic, Prayer of Thanksgiving, and America, the Dream Goes On all feature vocal performances. It's one of those albums that seems to be a perfect mix for anyone who enjoys music.

I actually discovered this CD in our public library. Playing it in my car is fantastic! A couple of the songs even brought me to tears. I feel so lucky and proud to have been born an American!! These songs just serve to celebrate that and I highly recommend it. I'm here on Amazon to actually PURCHASE it, since I love The BOSTON POPS ORCHESTRA'S performance of this music so much! Enjoy!

This is a wonderful collection of great songs representing the U.S. The Boston Pops have done a remarkable job in getting each song started nice smooth and then as it goes on, it collects more and more energy until the end of the song, where I was left shivering. My favorites are Alexander's Ragtime Band, When the Saints Go Marching In, and Stars and Stripes Forever. Not only do they sound great, the energy is stunning. I would recommend this cd to anyone who likes classic songs that you can really feel.

The orchestrations were creative and wonderful. "This Land is Your Land" and "Alexander's Ragtime Band" stood out - I could envision the orchestra having a wonderful time. My only complaint is that the final two selections were neither familiar nor particularly creative in presentation.

This disc compiles a number of signature performances of American music by the Boston Pops under both Arthur Fiedler and John Williams, and while the transitions aren't always smooth from one piece to the next, the album still hangs together reasonably well. One should note, however, that some of the selections, such as This Land is Your Land and Battle Hymn of the Republic, are not purely orchestral but have a chorus along for the ride. Nonetheless, this is a vigorous and energetic disc that's hard not to like.
