Hearing this album again brought back the happy and fun-filled memories of my childhood. Kui Lee takes your heart to much simplier and kinder days with his music. A must for any Hawaiian music collection!

I love that this legend is being kept alive, he was so gifted with his beautiful voice and I also appreciate that Don Ho has worked hard to see that we never forget him:-)

Tho' Kui Lee had a pleasant voice, his abilities as a songwriter and the beauty inherent in the songs he wrote, for example "I'll Remember You" and "Lahaina Luna", endeared him to other well known Hawaiian singers and he became a folk hero to the islanders.
My husband was stationed in the islands in 1966 when the entire state mourned his passing, less than two weeks after Columbia
released his first album. Tho' Kuiokalani Lee is gone, his beloved songs will live on.

I was really disapponted with this CD. The description that comes with the CD indicates that a "jazzist" named Mike Berniker produced the album. Unfortunately, what resulted is a jazzy, and snappy series of songs that do not do justice to the Kui Lee who used to sing with a slower and deeply emotional delivery. During the time that Kui Lee was singing at Queens Surf I was living in the Waikiki Aquarium and I used to listen to his music almost every night. It was beautiful and haunting and this CD does not begin to do justice to the Kui Lee I remember.

A very hard to find album on a CD! This artist is a legend, passing way too early. His music is precious. CD came in good shape and a could of the songs are classics. Was able to import to my iTunes with no problems!

I was a teenager in Hawai'i when Kui Lee died. His death at such an early age was a blow, as I had friends who were singing and playing music and they idolized Kui. I had this in vinyl, but it's so scratchy and well-used that I'd been looking around for this CD. I'd rate it higher if it had "She's Gone Again/I'll Remember You", but it's still a nice indication of Kui's talent and how much more he could've done.

Kui lee, along with Eddie Kamae, were probably most responsible for the revival of Hawaiian music. This album contains some of his most memorable pieces -- too bad it couldn't include Lahainaluna and She's Gone Again.
