Format: Audio CD

The previous reviewer is right - this is a fine CD. It is the welcome re-release of two LPs recorded by the Chaz Jazz label in the early 1980s, and catches both Ralph Sutton & Kenny Davern in fine form. The highlight - Claude Hopkins' "I'd Do Anything For You", which Sutton roars through and full power.
Let's hope that Chiaroscuro re-issues more of the series of recordings that Sutton made for Chaz Jazz - the solo sets and the duets with Ruby Braff and Eddie Miller are top class.
Strongly recommended.

If you like good old fashioned piano, get this CD!

Format: Audio CD

The music on this CD is good, old-fashioned, smooth and lively piano. The two artists work together and complement each other's talents in presenting wonderful right hand, as well as very good bass. Also, some good clairnet solos and a little vocal work is featured. I would also recommend other albums with Ralph Sutton, such as "Last of the Whorehouse Piano Players". In that one, just overlook the title and enjoy the music! These are the kind of CD's that, as soon as they finish playing, I want to hit the "Play" button again.
