Format: Audio CD
I first heard Lucky Peterson at the annual 4th of July swing dance festival put on by the Greater Phoenix West Coast Swing Club. Phoenix has a large number of Chicago transplants and they (thankfully) brought the blues with them.

For those who don't know west coast is a popular blues swing dance. They were were playing Spankin' Leroy off this CD and the floor was packed. Lucky Peterson is played a lot and the response is always the same....a packed dance floor.

From what I hear Lucky Peterson was a child protigy who has been writting and performing blues since he was 5 and has played with a who's who of blues musicians. I've heard his concerts are even better than his CDs (if that is possible).

If you are into great blues then BUY THIS CD. Also buy Beyond Cool, Double Dealin and pass the word on to your friends.

I guess I hold the honor of having heard Lucky before most of you listeners. For you see, in December of 1969, I was set to produce a show with Magic Sam, Big Mama Thornton, John Littlejohn and Lucky Peterson. Sam died tragically a week before the show (I got Luther Allison to fill in for a tribute), Big Mama crapped out (I got instead KoKo Taylor, with Otis Spann, Luther Tucker, Matt Guitar Murphy and SP Leary instead!)
Regardless, Lucky was all of 5 when we did the show and even then he was a killer on the Hammond B-3. These days he is indeed a triple threat. I saw him at a club a few years ago and asked him if he remembered that show.
He didn't, until I brought up the name of a band member named Mingo, who charmed snakes and swallowed swords on stage. It was then that Lucky said, 'You know Mingo died a few years ago.'

I fist heard Lucky Peterson in the small town of Evron, France. He plays all over the world but very little in the US. Looking at his calendar for 2016, he plays in Australia, France, and Russia. Only one performance in the US in Las Vegas; I wish there were more as he puts on a great show. When he teams up with Wynston Marsaille, just go as the two greats seldom play together.
