This is good ole country with beautiful blue eyes and a powerful voice.
I now have all of her cd's and this is a landmark cd for her. Her talents are strong and ever present during this recording. Songs like THE TIME HAS COME, CHEAP WISKEY and TRUE BLUE FOOL provide us with the typical country sound that we are all used to. I now know where the Dixie Chicks took some of their cues from.
This cd marks the debut of what will be one of country music's finest voices.
This cd is deeply enriched in the sound of country music. I have to say that this was a good launching point for Martina. Her later projects are not as "typical" country.But they provide us with so much fun and so much talent to enjoy, that you forget that it is atypical country. Her other cds (Emotion, Wild Angels and Greatest Hits) have touched on a new concept called pop-country. She will continue to be one of the most beloved and talented women in music today and in future.
I am glad to love her and her music.

Thrilled to find her early music. Nice to hear her raw talent with lyrics that are less than well known. If you are a real Martina fan this music is something you won't want to miss and have in your collection.

This was Martina McBride's first cd. I didn't buy it until after she had had some hits off her second cd. And like Shania Twain and Sara Evans among others. This first cd didn't do much. And not so much her voice but see how much her look changed from her first cd to her second, This has some good songs on it. The title song The Time Has Come. That' s Me Cheap Whiskey, which sort of remind's me of Highway 101's Whiskey If You Were A Woman. And A Woman Knows are all good songs. The rest of the cd is also good. Martina McBride would go on and become one of the leading female artist's of her era. And one of my favorite female artists. And still is. I've seen her live once. Have all of her cds. Three of her t-shirts. And this is where it started.

Martina started out her career with a real traditional sound before been forced to go more Pop/Country!!
I love this album.Although she didn't score any hits on this album(that's country radio's loss) it's still a fantastic collection of classic hurtin' country.
From the touching single That's Me and the sorrowful single Cheap Whiskey(about a man who loses the love of his life because of his alcohol addiction)which also includes Garth Brooks on harmonies,to the sweet beautiful ballad When You Are Old,written by Gretchen Peters.Other great ballads are Losing You Feels Good and the lovely A Woman Knows.
Of course there's also some great honky tonk toe tapping gems like the title track The Time Has Come,Walk That Line and the lovely gospel - like song The Rope.
If you really love your country music and Martina McBride you have to have this album in your collection..You won't be disappointed!!

I remember hearing Martina for the first time and being totally blow away by her incredible voice. I din't buy the CD then (and don't usually buy an artists first one) because so many have just fillers. I have since purchased 7 of her CD's (my all-time favorite being WILD ANGELS). I bought this CD a few months ago and now it is my new 2nd favorite Martina CD. I can't belive it took me so long to buy it. It's filled with incredible songs, each with a great hook, done by one of the best voices in country music in the last 30 years. If you want something with a classic, traditional, pure conutry sound (as opposed to most of the pop/rap/modern/new-age stuff on the radio), this is the CD for you.

If you are a McBride completest, there is nothing disappointing on this CD. For those of us who are not, however, this one probably isn't worth the money. The songs are decent, but largely forgettable and McBride's voice lacks some of the sparkle it will develop on later CDs.

Martina McBride has without a doubt the best voice in country music today. Her vocals and depth and range and powerhouse voice cant be compared to anyone today. Even back then when Martina was first starting out, she had the "it" factor. I love Time Has Come- very country sounding and just what a treat to hear Martina from the start!!
