Product Description

Editorial Review

As with just about anything brandishing the Pokémon name, Pokémon Stadium is a must-have for any Pokémaniac. But this title is especially geared towards owners of Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue, or Pokémon Yellow for the Game Boy. Using the same battle system as the Game Boy games--think highly advanced rock-paper-scissors--Pokémon Stadium allows players to enter their Pokémon in a variety of tournaments and other battle modes, all featuring vibrant 3-D graphics and animation, as well as enhanced sounds and announcer commentary. Using the included Transfer Pak, players can use their own Pokémon from Game Boy Game Paks, or they can choose from a pool of rental Pokémon.

Pokémon Stadium isn't all battles, though. The Kids Club mode features nine cutesy minigames that make for great multiplayer fun for all ages. Gallery mode lets players take snapshots of Pokémon (similar to Pokémon Snap), which can then be printed out as stickers at your local Pokémon Snap station.

While Pokémon Stadium doesn't require that you already have any Game Boy version of Pokémon, players won't be able to access two of the best features of the game without one. Pokémon Lab allows players to view, store, and better organize the data on their Game Paks, as well as trade Pokémon with another player (which requires an additional Transfer Pak, sold separately). GB Tower allows gamers to play their Game Boy Pokémon cartridge on the Nintendo 64. --Joe Hon

Pros:

  • Tried-and-true Pokémon battle system with enhanced graphics and sounds
  • Allows you to play your Game Boy Pokémon game on the Nintendo 64
  • Ability to manipulate data on your Game Boy Pokémon game
  • Minigames make for great multiplayer fun for all ages

Cons:

  • Not likely to win over any Pokémon holdouts
  • The Game Boy Pokémon games are a better starting point for newbies to the genre

Product Description

Pokémon tournaments take place in the Stadium. There are four Cups to participate in. Players choose a team of six Pokémon, comprised of any combination of pregenerated rental Pokémon and Pokémon imported from a Game Boy cartridge. Each round consists of eight three-on-three battles, and the Poké and Prime Cups consist of four rounds, named after Poké Balls, that must be cleared to win that Cup.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pokémon Stadium, February 20, 2000

I played this game at the Pokémon 2000 Stadium Tour against Nintendo's deadly Mewtwo, grep. It has the greatest graphics I have ever seen on any Pokémon game. It is a must buy. The best part is you can upload your Pokémon from your game boy games with the transfer pack. This is truly the greatest video game ever. Even if you don't own game boy Pokémon games, you can still play with 149 rental Pokémon at level 50, all except Mewtwo and Mew. This is definitely a must buy for anyone who has even a remote interest in Pokémon.

This game is awesome. There are so many modes, everybody can enjoy it. There is the Gym Leader Tower mode, A tournament mode designed to be like the Pokemon League. For not so violent players there is also picture taking, mini-game mode and a color game boy built in to play pokemon yellow, blue,or red in color. You can organize your pokemon game boy stuff and trade with friends with the transfer pack that is included . This game has it all. Got two words for ya: BUY IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars a true look at: Pokemon Stadium, March 15, 2000

Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
Pokemon Stadium is another awesome Pokemon game from Nintendo. This time, instead of battling in flat 2-D graphics, you get to battle in sweet 3-D with excellent sounds and graphics. What is even better is that you can take your actual Pokemon from the Game Boy and put them on the Nintendo 64 VIA Transfer Pak which is shipped directly within Pokemon Stadium. All Pokemon players will be attracted to this game and don't think that you'll just use your lv 100 Mewtwo and fly through it. Nintendo made this so that it knows your strategy, and a little bit more. Some of the first battles are really easy but when you get deeper into it, they get as hard as heck, making it last for a LONG time. 1 to 4 players + hours of extra fun, Pokemon Stadium gets an A+
