Editorial Reviews

Product Description

"Great Britain released, PAL/Region 2 DVD: it WILL NOT play on standard US DVD player. You need multi-region PAL/NTSC DVD player to view it in USA/Canada. LANGUAGES: English (Mono), SYNOPSIS: Caboblanco (1980) In this strange, unsatisfying remake of Casablanca, directed by J. Lee Thompson, a bar owner helps a woman find a missing fortune. Right after the end of WWII, Giff Hoyt (Charles Bronson) owns a bar in Peru into which Marie Allesandri (Dominique Sanda) enters one day, in search of her lover and some missing money. Matters are complicated by Gunther Beckdorff (Jason Robards), a Nazi who has his own plans for the money. Terredo (Fernando Rey) observes all the action and helps at an important moment. Despite the very good cast which also includes Camilla Sparv and Gilbert Roland, all of the various subplots and characters fail to gel, and Caboblanco is confusing, unsatisfying and slow-moving. Any fan of Casablanca should skip this and see the original again. U.S. Marshal (1959) A disturbed army recruit shoots two fellow soldiers and forces another soldier and his girlfriend to provide escape transportation. Marshal Morgan and his men attempt to rescue the hostages and capture the trainee before he can harm others. SPECIAL FEATURES: Interactive Menu, Scene Access, Special Edition, "

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME "LITTLE-KNOWN" MOVIE, October 18, 2008

OK, I REALLY like Charles Bronson - that said, this is a REALLY good movie - I saw this on TV many years ago and never forgot it - took me many years to find it on DVD - some people get hung up on scenery, acting talent (or lack of it!), or comparisons to other movies - I totally go for the STORY - this particular one has a surprise ending that blew me away - I love it when the good guys prevail - there are so many excellent Bronson movies, I suppose this one has been forgotten about - I've seen many lists that don't include it - this has nowhere near the violence of the Death Wish series, etc., but you will be rooting for him immediately, just like always!
