Product Description

Amazon.com Review

A standard size for your roasts, this pan is noted for its heavyweight material and traditional uncoated steel. Preferred by professionals, its high-quality aluminized steel is an excellent heat retainer and bakes consistently all the way up the sides of the pan. With the thicker material, you can count on a more lasting durability and less chance of corrosion. It is dishwasher-safe, but if hand washing be sure to use a soft plastic or nylon sponge. Abrasive cleaners or steel wool may damage the quality of your pan. --Madeleine Miller

Product Description

Made from commercial heavy weight aluminized steel, the Chicago Metallic Commercial Bake 'N Roast Pan is adaptable and will fill many cooking roles. Use it to bake brownies and baklava, roast vegetables and fowl, bake lasagna, mac-n-cheese or spanakopita. Even heat distribution allows for even cooking and browning. All Chicago Metallic Commercial Line bakeware is made for durability - the pans won't rust or corrode and metal utensils can be used on their uncoated surfaces. The reinforced lip (on all folded and rectangular pans) eliminates popping, bending and flexing. The folded construction (on rectangular, loaf and square pans) is triple thick in the corners to increase strength and resist warping. Chicago Metallic Commercial Bakeware is the choice of commercial bakers. The more you use it the better it gets. Dishwasher safe. 25 year limited warranty. Dimensions: 13" x 9" x 2.25"

1.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointing, May 28, 2007
By jlc (New Jersey United States) - See all my reviews
I too was sick of non-stick baking pans and was hopeful that these pans would be a good alternative. I ordered two of them. After using them a few times for baked pasta dishes, the pans seemed to be reacting negatively to the tomato sauce and breaking down. Even more annoying are the seams in the four corners of the pans which make it impossible to thoroughly clean food out of the corners. I wish I hadn't wasted my money on these pans.

5.0 out of 5 stars Badly Over-priced, very disappointing inferior quality, October 17, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
UPDATED UPDATE 5/11/08:
Buying this pan was a horrible waste of time and money. I've had it 7 months and it looks like it's 10 years old, badly discolored, with very dark gray spots that look like the metal is corroding through (like there is a hole forming). Chicago Metallic should be ashamed of itself for putting out such a shoddy product. I'll never buy this brand again. If I could change the number of stars I gave this pan, I'd change it to zero (actually, I'd like to make it -5). Owning this pan has been like a new romance where the first date is wonderful. Then you quickly find out that this person is not only a phony but has bad breath, chews tobacco, is a bigot and only likes you because s/he thought you had a lot of money.
If you buy this pan after reading this review, you deserve what you get.

UPDATE 12/28/07:
The pan seems to be trying to rust. On top of that, even though I'm trying to be careful and thorough about washing the corners, I'm still not really getting all the stuff out of the corners because it's virtually impossible. I'm disappointed because I like the "heft" of the pan. If I'd paid under $[...] for it, I might be less disgusted, but at $[...], it's overpriced. The biggest problem is the poorly designed corners. Amazon's review system won't let me change the number of stars I've given this darned pan, but if I could I'd change it to ZERO!!

ORIGINAL REVIEW: 10/17/07
I've had this pan for a few weeks now and used it several times. The glue from the label did seem to be a little harder to remove than I'd have liked, but I when I used some alcohol on a cotton ball it came off with very little effort. While I had the alcohol-laden cotton ball, I wiped off the whole inside of the pan and I think that was a good idea. So far, it has seemed to heat very evenly, no warping, etc. It cleans up easily (do watch the corners). It has a nice heft to it, feels sturdy and heavy duty, like it could handle anything. I have this one and the non-stick one so that I have a choice and can use what seems right for the job. So far, I'm very happy with Chicago Metallic.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!, November 29, 2007
By Lefty Frizzell "Lefty" (Norfolk, VA (right now)) - See all my reviews
This thing came by rocket ship ordered it yesterday two day delivery. It was here before noon today. Amazon must had a distribution center across the street!

I am so pleased with this pan. I'm waiting for the others to arrive so that I can see how they do with my bread. I cannot believe how heavyweight these pans are. It's obvious quality. I remember my mother having something like this when I was a kid, and I have not seen anything made of this grade of metal at any of the "Cooks Supply". Things will stick to this. So make sure you grease and flour the pan prior to putting your biscuits or bread into it. Let the pan sit for about 2 or3 minutes, give it a shake or two and the bread just falls out. I'm planning on giving myself an early Christmas present and see what other stuff like this I can find.

I know for a fact that these will outlast todays non-stick. I've never been able to get one to last more that 5 or 6 months without failing.

Great buy.
