Quality bit at good price. I use this bit on my router sled to level large projects that won't go through a planer. I leveled a 32 Sq Ft GluLam beam table top easily with this bit. It performed flawlessly over the entire project. Ensure your router accepts 1/2 inch shanks and has a speed adjustment so as not to exceed the 16,500 rpm maximum with this bit.

This is my first high quality "expensive" router bit. I have always used some cheap ones that came in a kit. I never liked using my router because I felt like I didn't have control over it and like I was fighting the wood.

Well after using this that all changed. It cuts smooth as butter and has a super crisp edge. I will be slowly replacing all my cheapo ones with Freud brand. Can't beat the Amazon price either!

Be careful trying to remove this bit from the plastic casing it arrives in; it is very sharp.

If the bit is stuck in the casing, push it back and forth laterally until it is loose enough to slide out. If you twist it, twist in the direction of the blade, so that if you slip, you don't lose any fingers.

This bit makes quality dados and rabbets. The bit is sharp and seems to stay sharp through many cuts. Dado cuts are clean on the sides and in the bottom.

I do not have any complaint about this product.

I built a jig that holds wide boards and has a sled that a router runs in to flatten wide boards. This bit worked perfectly. I have done four boards now with no slow down in cut quality.

This bit is a beast, only way to level out a walnut slab with a sled jig that I'm using for a counter top. Here's a photo, and check out YouTube they show how to build the sled with router and this bit to level out wood slabs.

Let me just say I love freud cutting tools. I rate things in consideration to the price range they are in along with what it is supposed to do and how it actually performs. Usually everything I purchase that is made by freud gets the highest rating in my book, because the performance quality at the price range their products are in are always on par if not better. I have a large selection of freud saw blades, forstner bits, and router bits and they all perform to the highest standard of the price range they are in.

Now with this 1-3/4 straight bit. My experience has been a little different which is why I gave it 4 stars only. The bit is a beast and for the most part it performs great, but I purchased this bit to plane wood down flat and level. Seeing as I do not have a jointer or a plane. I will say it that this is the first time for me to plan wood in this manner, but this bit leaves uneven lines in the surface of the wood that I am planing. Which is why I gave it 4 stars. The lines are easy to sand out with some heavy grit sandpaper or a smoothing plane, but this is a straight bit that is supposed to perform as a bottom smoothing bit. So it should not leave lines in the wood surface. I am thinking that maybe I could have received a slightly defective bit. So I ordered one of the Amana 1-3/4 straight bits. I am going to give that a go and see if it does the same thing. Even with the lines .I would still recommend this bit, because the lines can be sanded out afterwards and freud bits usually last a long time. Plus this particular bit is large enough to eat away a lot of material in one pass and it is sharp as hell.

This bit cuts very well, I've tried a half inch craftsman bit with a quarter inch shank, and boy does this make a huge difference. I love freud, they make top notch products, unfortunately I can't afford to have a shop full of their products, but I have used their blades and bits on many occasions in other peoples shops and they are the best I've ever used!

I used this big with a home made jig to flatten my bench top. Wow! So much faster than trying to hand plane it and it came out fantastic! I was worried about trying to get the absolute largest diameter I could, but that turned out to be folly. This bit was perfect.

I used it again for some rabbet work. It's a massive bit, so you have to be careful about how much material you're trying to remove in a single pass, of course.

I've had a 100% satisfaction rate with Freud bits so far, and I've got quite a few, including sash and panel sets. You can't go wrong with Freud.
