Amazon.com Review

Ms. Pac-Man Maze Madness takes the original formula and updates it for the new millennium. The most striking change is the game's new 3-D orientation. The play is expanded, but it is largely based on the original. Maze Madness involves a weird story of gems being scattered throughout Pac-Land. A witch is after the gems, so you must find them all before she does.

Maze Madness is a bit of a misleading title, because while the game does involve mazes, it's the puzzles that will stop your progress. Most of the puzzles aren't that hard, but a few will stump you for a bit. There are blocks to push, TNT to explode, and springboards that propel you upward.

Players are awarded stars for completing different tasks, such as finding all the fruit in a level, munching all the pellets in a level, or beating the level in time-trial mode. Initially, earning one star per level will get you to the next stage, but you must go back and earn more stars to unlock later levels.

Maze Madness' graphics are smooth and crisp, but they aren't very detailed. The game has the look and feel of a cartoon's minimal lighting effects. Ms. Pac-Man herself is just a round polygonal sphere with some textures, arms, and legs glued on.

Where this game excels is in the level design. A puzzle game like this is made or broken on the ingenuity of the levels. Also, Maze Madness features some multiplayer options, which, combined with its simple, family-friendly gameplay, makes it an excellent choice for a party game. --Todd Mowatt--This text refers to the Sega Dreamcast edition of this game

5.0 out of 5 stars Great game for all ages, January 3, 2001
My 5 year old received Ms. Pacman Maze Madness for Christmas. He loves it. It's simple enough for him, yet complex enough to keep the interest of my 9 year old and my husband. Even Mom is a little addicted.

As a mother, I like it because it's not violent and it requires a lot of reasoning to figure out the puzzles to get through the mazes.

The multi-player feature is fun for our whole family, too.

I highly recommend it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Pac's the idea!, December 28, 2000

Ms Pac Man has always been my favorite old school game so I was very intrigued to find out she'd be making the jump to 3D. All the original fun of munching pellets, ghosts and fruits is still here with the added bonus of puzzles. Very few of the puzzles were truly mind bending, but they add depth and variety to the mindless gobbling of dots. I flew through this game pretty fast, but what keeps me involved is the Time Trail mode which is EXTREMELY challenging. You have to know the maze and puzzles by heart and blaze through them in lightning speed in order to finish in the given time.

I didn't give it 5 stars because the rumble feature is annoying, you have to use the controller pack to save your progress, graphics and sound are just OK not outstanding, the multiplayer modes aren't very fun for older gamers and I wsh the game was a bit longer.

Overlooking these missteps though, Ms Pac Man is a very solid gmae. It's a great game for people who love Ms Pac Man (as the original game is included also), younger gamers, puzzle gamers, and those who like to move through a game fast with the option of going back to find all the bonuses. Highly recomemnded!

5.0 out of 5 stars This Game is sooo EXCITING!!, December 8, 2001
By A 9-year old gamer (New York City) - See all my reviews
The game is pretty cool. It has cool graphics plus 3D mini games. You have to beat one master and it has 4 levels to defeat. It's extremely fun. The mini games are fast and wild! When I play this game, I beat all the levels and I also got up to the master...I beat all the mini games and I say "EVERYBODY GET THIS GAME!!" done.

Think about it. Ms. Pac-Man in 3-d, not a very good idea. I mean, the views are messed up, the graphics are choppy, and the gameplay is 'Smash'. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Ms Pac Man
I rented this game for my grandson, he's 5 and he loves it. It's simple enough for him to play, but also fun enough to entertain my older nephew. Great Game.
