I use it for boat maintenance, especially when I'm either unable to put heat shrink on a connection or I stupidly forgot to insert heat shrink tubing before assembly the connection. Most electrical tape will lose adhesion after a while, especially in warm moist environments. This stuff will not.

In use, it seems like a combination of adhesive tape and silicone tape - stretchy and conformable like silicone tape yet adhering to itself and other surfaces more readily.

When I worked for the telephone company we had boxes of this stuff. We used it to seal the ends of cable to stop moisture from getting to the wires..for the old land line users, this is what caused the crackling on your phone call. Since I was making some rain barrel's and tapping into my rain gutter I found that the "custom" diverter leaked more water out than it sent to the rain barrel. So I wrapped this on each end of the diverter and sealed the ends. Now all the rain goes where it should.. into my barrel.

Really does the job but without a strip to seperate the layers it will eventually congeal. This stuff is very good but it won't have a 20 year shelf life. The adhesive backing helps it keep in place, a better feature than I thought.

This tape looks like soft, thick electrical tape, but when stretched, it deforms more, allowing it to conform to odd shapes the way you always wish electrical tape would, but it never does. As a result it forms a tight bond -- apparently somewhat watertight even.

Baby this is the stuff you need to wrap the boots of an antenna connection, this and th 3m Type 88 over the top of it and your connection will build less resistance over the years, particularly if at the top of a mast like my issue. (see standard HAM radio installation recommendations)

This rubbery tape, about twice as thick as vinyl electrician's tape, works well for insulating. I bought it to insulate a touchpad connector from the underside of a metal palm-rest on a laptop. I'm definitely keeping it in my toolkit.

The adhesive is good without being messy.

Very happy to find this online, as it was exactly what I needed for the repair.

Use this tape to seal N connectors on microwave head amps.always use Scotch Super 88 tape first, then the 2242 tape. Wrap the the entire connection once (or twice) again with a layer of Super 88 electrical tape, just like in step one.

That's it! A fully waterproof seal, with the ability to remove the tape layers using nothing but a utility knife.

A friend gave a piece of a roll of this tape. I found the 3M product number on the inside of the roll and search that number on Amazon and wow there it was. I highly recommend this product especially for taping wire that is apt to be exposed to outside. A great product.
